Introduction

The Xiaomi 14T is what a flagship killer looks like these days. It is a premium smartphone with top-notch features such as display, performance and camera, but without the extra value-adding non-essential tricks.

The new Xiaomi 14T introduces a refined, flat design, still IP68-rated as the 13T. Another thing that is the same is the 6.67-inch CrystalRes OLED screen with a 1220p resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision certification. The only screen improvement per the official specs is the 4,000 nits peak brightness.

The Xiaomi 14T has an upgraded chipset, now Dimensity 8300-Ultra, with a newer and more powerful CPU, improved graphics and faster UFS 4.0 storage.

Xiaomi 14T specs at a glance:

  • Body: 160.5x75.1x7.8mm, 195g; Gorilla Glass 5 front, plastic frame, Glass Panda-X back; IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 2m for 30 min).
  • Display: 6.67" OLED, 68B colors, 144Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1600 nits (HBM), 4000 nits (peak), 1220x2712px resolution, 20.01:9 aspect ratio, 446ppi.
  • Chipset: Mediatek Dimensity 8300 Ultra (4 nm): Octa-core (1x3.35 GHz Cortex-A715 & 3x3.20 GHz Cortex-A715 & 4x2.20 GHz Cortex-A510); Mali G615-MC6.
  • Memory: 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 16GB RAM; UFS 4.0.
  • OS/Software: Android 14, HyperOS.
  • Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, 1/1.56", PDAF, OIS; Telephoto: 50 MP, PDAF, 2x optical zoom; Ultra wide angle: 12 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 1/3.06", 1.12µm.
  • Front camera: 32 MP, (wide).
  • Video capture: Rear camera: 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 4Kp@30fps.
  • Battery: 5500mAh; 67W wired.
  • Connectivity: 5G; Dual SIM; Wi-Fi 6e; BT 5.4, LHDC; NFC; Infrared port.
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); stereo speakers.

The Leica camera is what the Xiaomi 14T will be highly advertised for and its most important feature, as usual. There are still three cameras on the back with a new 50MP primary, followed by a 50MP 2x telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide imager. There are plenty of neat video-capturing features such as bokeh and Rack Focus.

The Xiaomi 14T boots the latest Android and HyperOS with a bunch of AI tricks, including Gemini. The phone is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports up to 67W fast wired charging.

Xiaomi 14T review

The Xiaomi 14T isn't a major improvement over the Xiaomi 13T - sure, there is a slightly more powerful and newer chip and a more modern sensor for the primary camera, but that is about it. This doesn't mean it is not one of the most interesting devices on the market right now. If only it had a better selfie camera, but it seems Xiaomi is still stuck here on its antic ways.

Unboxing the Xiaomi 14T

The Xiaomi 14T ships within a thinner-than-usual box, and our suspicions turned out to be correct - there is no charger inside!

Xiaomi 14T review

What you get is a black silicone case, a USB-A-C cable, and a thin folio already applied to the display.

Xiaomi 14T review

Xiaomi was one of the last bastions of the "always ship with a charger" slogan, and that appears to be now over.

This is so true. I also noticed photos from the camera seem inconsistent now. At times I get awesome photos and the other times very dull photos. I did try Photon Camera and seems to be doing a better job than the built-in camera app but its also not...

I hope a long term review is available for all these phones. Almost 2 years after this phone was released, there was a noticeable inconsistency with the post processing done on images. There are times wherein images will be overly saturated and ...
