YouTube's new feature will help you spend less time watching videos of cats on your phone

Google Android Mobile software

With Google's new Android P OS come plenty of new features and changes. One of them is focused on your "digital well-being" as it will track the time you spend on your device with a breakdown of each app. It will also include information of how many times you've unlocked your phone.

However, the first step from YouTube comes early as it doesn't require Android P to work. It's actually a simple reminder, which you can customize, telling you that you should take a break from watching videos on the platform. You can go and check them out now by tapping on your profile icon in the upper-right corner of YouTube's app, then tap "Settings", select "General" and then go to the "Remind me to take a break" option.

Once you hit the limit, YouTube will kindly remind you that you need to take a break and focus on your daily tasks. This won't close the app or pause the video, though, and it's up to you whether or not you will continue procrastinating.

Another useful new feature is the so-called "scheduled digest". It groups all the notifications you receive from YouTube's app and serves them in one go at a specific time of the day of your liking.

I'm using a modded YouTube app for the dark UI. Google should provide it on their official android app.

You don't need any of that. The feature is already included on the app which you can download from App Store and Google Play Store
