Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite review
Display
One of the coolest features of the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite has to be its notched screen with minimal bezels. It's 5.84" in diagonal and has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,280 pixels or 432ppi. That's pretty much the specs of the screen we saw on the Huawei P20 Lite, and we will be checking how the A2 Lite's is stacking against the Huawei.
Xiaomi hasn't specified the type of glass used on the screen, so we'd advise getting a screen protector just to be on the safe side.
The Mi A2 Lite display has a maximum brightness of 488 nits - close to the promised 500 nits. Its black levels aren't that deep, though, which led to an uninspiring contrast ratio of 1268:1. That's a bit lower than what Xiaomi is promising - 1500:1 - but it's fine for the segment nevertheless.

Sunlight legibility is nothing to phone home about, although its score is still respectable especially for a budget phone. In real-world terms, the handset remains perfectly usable outdoors. Just don't angle the sun straight at it.

The color rendering is average - the screen offers mostly accurate colors and we measured an average DeltaE of 5.1. The representation of the white color is way colder than it should be (DeltaE of 9), while the rest of the colors that were off looked washed out. So, even with the overall accurate average deviation in color representation, subjectively, the screen still looks a bit washed out and dull.
Battery life
The Mi A2 Lite is powered by a large 4,000mAh sealed battery - the same as on many Redmi Notes. It supports regular 5V/2A charging, which restores about 26% of the battery in 30 minutes, 40% in 40 minutes, and 100% in 2 hours and 10 minutes when charging from zero. Not exactly fast, but as fast as expected for the price segment.
The A2 Lite has the same energy-efficient Snapdragon 625 chip as the A1 and many other Redmi phones, and it easily scored an excellent result in our battery test with a 106-hour Endurance rating. It did a great job in all tested scenarios - video playback, calls, web browsing and had an outstanding stand-by performance.

Loudspeaker
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite has a single bottom-firing loudspeaker and scored an Excellent mark in our loudness test. It performs great for music and the sound output is rich and clean.

Audio quality
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite had faultless output with an active external amplifier - great clarity and nicely high loudness.
Headphones caused a hike in stereo crosstalk that was about average, but none of the other readings were affected, which meant the output is still among the best out there. Volume didn’t drop at all either rounding up an impressive performance for the affordable Mi A2 Lite.
