Xiaomi Redmi Android Announcement

Xiaomi announced the Redmi K60 series last December, consisting of three smartphones - Redmi K60, Redmi K60E, and Redmi K60 Pro. These are today joined by the fourth member of the lineup, dubbed Redmi K60 Ultra.

The Redmi K60 Ultra is powered by the Dimensity 9200+ SoC, boots MIUI 14, and comes with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The K60 Ultra packs a 12-bit 6.67" 1.5K (2,712x1,220 pixels) screen with 2,600 nits peak brightness and 2,880Hz PWM dimming.

The display has a 144Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate, and Xiaomi says the Redmi K60 Ultra comes with an independent graphics chip called X7 developed with Pixelworks that helps it achieve a native frame rate of 144 FPS in 30 games (100+ through frame rate interpolation). The X7 chip also helps with clarity in games.

Xiaomi hasn't explicitly mentioned if the panel is LCD or OLED, but since the Redmi K60 Ultra features an in-display fingerprint reader, it's safe to say it's the latter. The screen also has DCI-P3 coverage and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content.

Around the back, we have a camera island housing three cameras - 54MP Sony IMX800 (effective 50MP) primary with OIS and 8K HDR10+ recording, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro. The camera island has what Xiaomi calls a metal dome DECO design since its sides are extended downwards. For selfies and video calls, you get a 20MP camera.

Keeping the entire package up and running is a 5,000 mAh battery advertised to have 1.32 days of endurance and charge 100% in 19 minutes with the bundled 120W charger. Xiaomi has used the self-developed P1 chip for fast charging and the G1 chip for battery management on the Redmi K60 Ultra.

The rest of the Redmi K60 Ultra's highlights include 5G connectivity, USB-C, Wi-Fi 6, and multi-function NFC. It also comes with 5000mm² stainless steel VC cooling, stereo speakers, dual-band GPS, and NavIC. Moreover, the Redmi K60 Ultra has an IP68 rating, making it the first Redmi smartphone with that level of ingress protection.

I don't think that's what they're saying, they wanted a midrange processor for longer battery life instead a flagship processor.
