WARNING!!!
I don’t recommend this phone. It’s terrible—even for casual use. It’s extremely laggy. I bought this for my mom, but she’s struggling to use it because of how slow it is. Also, do not restart this phone. It has already happened to me twice—the system gets corrupted after a restart, and the only fix is a full factory reset!

had this phone for (I believe) about a year now. I was unfortunate (or stupid) enough to get the 3GB/64GB model, which was about fine when I first used it, but down the road it just became more and more unbearable. It being an ARMV8l device, it couldn't run 64-bit apps, which really just sucked (it didn't run Android GO, at least..) Memory Expansion (or simply "swap" space) didn't do much. I had to use the combination of Shizuku and App Ops just to get stuff like floating windows (Display over other apps) working. The cameras.. really not for anything serious.
It once failed to boot, then lead me to a recovery menu, with the only option being Factory Reset... couldn't skip. The (replacement) screen broke about 30 days after the original was replaced... it also started heating up at the bottom to the point of burning... and I just don't see the point of fixing it anymore (nor even why I got it in the first place...)

Redmi A3 doesn't allow display over other apps which is not nice and not good for every users. Display over other apps is important specially when you download necessary apps. Please Xiaomi community enable this feature as soon as possible.

Bought it in June 2024. The camera was never good at focusing. The rest worked fine until a few days ago when i got the message there was corrupted data and would not let me do anything except factory reset. I did the factory reset and now it works, but with errors. Sometimes the internet data can't be accessed or the screen goes completely black, the system font is now green for some reason. Not even a year after buying it, but I still like the brand, my previous Xiaomi lasted 4 years and I still have it around and use it for other stuff. I ordered the Poco C75, I hope it lasts longer.

My redmi A3 can do 1440p/2K, I Have Proof.
Oh yeah also it can do LOG Video recording.

I have the 3+64 version. The performance was shown on this video. I regret buying this phone!! Should've bought a second hand mid-range phone with the same money and been much more satisfied!
Xiaomi people still telling lies about how capable this phone is; if they don't tell lies, Nobody will buy it! Shame!

The 3BG model runs 32-bit android. Amazing. Some apps won't work. Avoid this shower.

I've had this phone since June 2024, the 3GB+64GB variant currently running android 15, and it's been running just fine as a daily driver. It was issued to me for work and I use it daily for email (Outlook and Gmail apps), Teams, Zoom, M365 and a bit of social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) using the full non-lite apps, web browsing (Chrome, Brave), mobile internet banking and YouTube (apk patched on the same device using ReVanced Manager) and the occasional document scanning. It has had no issues handling any of those apps or tasks thrown at it. Contrary to claims made here, it is capable of more than just calling and texting.
I'm always amazed when people expect flagship performance from such budget devices. This phone is very capable with its octa core CPU. If you've got the 2GB variant and then complain of slowness with bloated apps like facebook, you are solely to blame and need to re-evaluate your choices. If you've got the 4GB variant and you're experiencing overall lagging with these everyday apps, then something else exceptional is happening on your device that isn't the norm with this device. I have three of these devices in my house (bought the 4GB+128GB variants for my wife and her brother), and they're having absolutely zero issues with them, not to mention they are way more heavier users of social media apps than I.

I want to run Lineage, but don't know how to build a version for this phone. The name A3 is similar to the name of the Xiami Mi A3, but they are not ot be confused.
The phone is handling data OK, tethered to the laptop.

If you could try this phone on hand first, you wouldn't buy it; Its running like a custom rom flashed into an ancient phone which has only 2g ram and 16g rom.
I wonder why a company renowned as Xiaomi would have produced such an lousy product to defame their own name
