Xiaomi introduced its first clamshell last week, the Mix Flip. We attended the event and tried to learn any information regarding an international launch, but company reps were unwilling to discuss the matter publicly.
Today, we have confirmation that the device will indeed arrive outside of China. A country manager for Xiaomi teased during a local press event that five markets in Central and Eastern Europe will be among the first to get the phone, which will cost around €1,300 or $1,400.
Xiaomi launched the Mix Flip with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a 4” cover display. The foldable panel on the inside is 6.86” OLED with 3,000 nits peak brightness and supports up to 120 Hz refresh rate.
The screen on the back wraps around the cameras, which are both 50 MP – one is the main wide shooter with PDAF and OIS, the other is a telephoto camera for portrait shots with 2x optical zoom and PDAF as well.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip has three memory combinations, but the Xiaomi representative did not reveal which one is going international.
We already had a close encounter with the Mix Flip and found it light and comfortable to hold. Its frame is mostly flat and has no sharp corners. The hinge can stay at any angle between 45 and 135 degrees and has a very satisfying snap at 180 degrees when it closes with zero gap.
This early hands-on was too brief for a comprehensive verdict but we have already received a review unit, so stay tuned for the final word on whether it is the foldable to look out for.
Wtf?? I brought this phone on release in China and it only cost me 6499 CNY (827 EUR), why does releasing it globally increase the price by that much?
