Lightbrand, 24 Mar 2024If anyone is reading this in 2024, do you know when did this whole "bezeless" thing ... moreFirst there was the Sharp Aquos Crystal launched back in 2014. Then there was this in 2016. Samsung did some experimenting with curved edge phones like the Note Edge in 2014 but it was a half hearted attempt at reducing bezels. Samsung really only properly made a smaller bezel phone with the S8 in 2017. It was at that point that other manufacturers started joining in.

If anyone is reading this in 2024, do you know when did this whole "bezeless" thing become mainstream?
This phone gave me a lasting impression back in 2016 when I was still using a LG phone then a Samsung S8.
This year I finally upgraded and went straightto the S24U but not before I checked out what was the latest Mi MIX and found it's kind of different every iteration and Samsung seems to be full bezeless for couple of generations now (S22 S23).
So how fast did everyone catch on? I know 2016 is so long ago was XiaoMI that ahead of its time?

I had both and used the former for some time. No updates though beyond Android 5.1 and unlockable bootloader. Was a great device. 7" 1920x1200 nice wide display. Worked great tablet-phone. These were out the same time as Sharp's own Aquos smartphones that had the chin only bezel almost-all screen experience. (edited)

oh, the memories. i've had this phone for a while, and it was a very nice experince, the only problem is just the proximity sensor, everything else is magnificent.

I still have mine as a secondary phone BTW. I underclock the cpu and use 10w charging so it doesn't get hot

The android 11 custom rom support ended last December.
Hopefully someone makes an android 12 or wait for 13 and make a rom

Alin, 29 Jun 2021I am confused when I see this phone because this phone is made in 2016 And the design looks li... moreTo be Honest, Sharp Had made it first with Aquos, check the Aquos Line up, sharp made it far before Mi mix, but since Sharp Aquos was not made for outside japan so it was not viral, Xiaomi take advantage because viral from their other line up and the specs and design is much better than Aquos
But actually the trend for bezelless was started because Apple, and then others just followed the trend, and this phone sales are not great like others flagship, the handling can be a problem since this phone was too big and bezel less plus front camera is at the bottom right, may a little problem when taking a selfie

able to the masses in a year or two or perhaps even faster
this time with many either boxy or rounded corners with
different back camera island will be the majority design
will b d norm till they can come up with something new
