Xiaomi Android

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra unveiled earlier this week will debut in India on April 23, although it's currently unclear if it will be joined by the other smartphones in the Mi 11 series - the Mi 11, Mi 11 Lite 5G and Mi 11i (the Mi 11 Pro was confirmed to be exclusive to China).

In the world of flagships, we're pushing further.

The Mi 11 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, boots Android 11-based MIUI 12.5, and has three memory options - 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB. It's built around a 6.81" 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED display with a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication and a punch hole for the 20MP selfie camera.

Around the back, we get a massive camera island, housing a 50MP primary, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP periscope telephoto units. The island also includes a secondary always-on AMOLED screen of 294x126-pixel resolution that measures 1.1" diagonally and shows notifications. It also doubles up as a viewfinder if you want to take selfies with the main camera.

Fueling the entire package is a 5,000 mAh battery claimed to go from flat to 100% in 36 minutes with the 67W charger. The smartphone also supports 67W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The rest of the Mi 11 Ultra's features include a USB-C port, IP68 rating, 5G support, and stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon.

There are plenty of people, including me who rely on the AOD especially after the LED notification as removed from phones. Regardless, there's no excuse for providing USB 2.0 in a flagship device in 2021.

Always on displays feature is nothing but a battery hog in my personal opinion. Never turned them 🔛on any of the Amoled display phones I have used in the past decade.
