WhatsApp Apps Online services Social networks Android Rumors

Last month, WhatsApp announced a feature called Events for the Communities and said that it would be rolled out for groups that are not a part of any community "over the coming months." While WhatsApp hasn't revealed when exactly this feature will be available worldwide for all group chats, it's already available for some users on WhatsApp for Android's beta version 2.24.14.9.

This revelation comes from WABetaInfo, who shared a screenshot (included below) showing the Events feature available for regular group chats as well that are not associated with any community.

Clicking on the paperclip icon in the group chat now presents an additional "Event" icon that lets you create a new event. Once created, members of the group can view and accept the event invite, while the modifications to the event can expectedly be made only by the creator of that event. It's also worth mentioning that group events are end-to-end encrypted.

If you are an Android user and can't wait for the public rollout of the Events feature for regular group chats, you can sign up for the beta program to give it a try.

Yes, I could also say that if I want to communicate with someone, I visit/meet them or email/call them. So, why use WhatsApp? All the other smartphone IMs that came after WhatsApp, why do they exist?
