Weekly poll results: Xiaomi has (mostly) hit the bullseye with the Redmi Note 12 series

Weekly poll Xiaomi Redmi

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series has the potential to become a fan favorite, judging by last week’s poll. Well, only half of the four models earned praise from fans, but that was to be expected.

The vanilla Redmi Note 12 doesn’t do much for tech enthusiasts, though it should be a good seller among the casual crowd.

The Redmi Note 12 Explorer and its bonkers 210W fast charging predictably brought on concerns about battery health – fast charging is good, but in this case it is too much of a good thing. Xiaomi says everything is tested and the battery will be fine, but the super short charge times are tempting only to some.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro had the highest positive to negative ratio in the polls out of the four models. 67W is fast enough, it seems, and the 200MP main camera isn’t a must-have for everyone.

Still, plenty of people are willing to pay extra for the 200MP image sensor in the Redmi Note 12 Pro+. This is the first time we see this resolution in a mid-range device – in this case a Dimensity 1080 is tasked with image processing (the premium Xiaomi 12T Pro uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1).

Not everyone in the comments is a fan of the Dimensity line. Some prefer Snapdragons, but there were quite a few supporters of the MediaTek chips as well. There was a lot of back and forth on the topic. Another thing – most Note 11 models had a microSD slot and a 3.5mm jack. The Note 12 series has neither, which didn’t sit well with many.

Even with these complaints, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ are a win for Xiaomi and it has earned itself bragging rights with the Explorer edition, even if it won’t be a mass market device.

Yeah, too unbalanced that its current line-up phone's longevity is questionable along with buggy UI. My Redmi Note 9 Pro didn't last 3 years without software bug and already can't connect WiFi and data cellular despite been resetted ...

As soon as I found out that the Note 12 series has no microSD slot, my new note 11 pro+ was an instant buy. Couldn't be happier. I've been a xiaomi fan since my first xiaomi phone, the "red rice". Then I got the Redmi Note 2, then...
