vivo Android Announcement

The vivo X Fold+ is official with a brand new color and a brand new chipset – the phone uses the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which (per Qualcomm’s official numbers) promises a 30% reduction in power use coupled with a 10% increase in performance.

Besides the chipset, the battery also got an upgrade. The plus model boasts 4,730mAh capacity (up from 4,600mAh). Combined with the more efficient chipset, the new foldable flagship should last nearly 2 hours longer when viewing videos.

Wired charging was boosted to 80W (up form 66W), so now 70% charge is reached in 18 minutes, a full charge takes 35 minutes. The original model also shipped with an 80W charger, but it couldn’t make full use of it (it was only 2 minutes slower to 100%, though, not a huge loss). Also, wireless charging remains at 50W.

Like the original, the X Fold 8+ has an 8” foldable display (4:3.55) with Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and a 1-120Hz LTPO panel. Both it and the 6.53” cover display (21:9) feature ultrasonic fingerprint readers.

The hinge can stay open at several angles, handy for multimedia and video calls. vivo optimized the speakers to make sure speech comes out out loud and clear in this setup.

The rear camera setup is as before with a 50MP main module (1/1.57” GN5 sensor, 1.0µm, f/1.75 OIS), 48MP ultra wide (114°) and two telephoto modules – one 12MP camera with a 47mm lens for portraits and one 8MP periscope camera with 5x magnification (and up to 60x digital zoom) and OIS.

The new colorway is called Huaxia Red and is covered in faux leather like the two original colors (those are available on the X Fold+ too, if you like them better than the red one). Naturally, vivo has prepared a matching faux leather protective case to go with the phone as well, but that is normally a separate purchase (some will get it as a pre-order bonus, more on that in a second).

The vivo X Fold+ is available for pre-order in China starting today and will go on sale on the 29th. The base 12/256GB model is priced CNY 10,000 ($1,400/€1,450/₹114,000), the 12/512GB upgrade is CNY 11,000. For comparison, the original X Fold (12/256GB) launched at CNY 9,000.

Not really, lot of flagships are at 5x (or less) zoom with not much better sensors. You will get phone + mini tablet at similar price, since all prices went up. Best way is to try, but in this media age it should suit needs of most for better expe...

The spen fold edition does not scratch the main display. Obviously you don't know that because you're jaded (and probably just can't afford foldables in the first place). Also, no other user interface makes seamless and intuitive use o...
