The brand new vivo X Fold3 Pro is the sleekest new foldable to launch in China and word is that we may see it in other markets soon. If you were wondering just how vivo managed to accomplish its impressively thin and light appearance then the new teardown video from WekiHome is an interesting watch.

As usual, the teardown begins by powering off the device and removing the SIM card slot which is impressively thin on the X Fold3 Pro. Applying heat to the sides and some force with a pick pops off the back cover which is also quite thin but the host details that it is made from a reinforced fiber composite. The cover screen is then popped off revealing the other side of the back.

We can spot a massive sheet of copper foil which helps keep the display panel from overheating alongside a second-gen Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The motherboard features a dual-stacked design with a trio of camera sensors on the top kept in place with an interesting plastic cover that also houses the flash cable, microphone, ambient light sensor, and laser focus module. We then get close-ups of the camera sensors alongside some sample photos.

The teardown continues with the motherboard housing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, Samsung LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage modules as well as the vivo V3 imaging chip. There’s a copper vapor chamber right below the board to keep thermals in check. We then get close-up looks at the speakers, microphones and vibration motor as well as the dual cell 5,700mAh silicone anode battery which is split between two 2,850 mAh cells.

Interestingly, the newer X Fold3 Pro has a smaller VC vapor chamber than its predecessor. The last bit of the video shows out the lightweight carbon fiber hinge that weighs just under 15 grams.
