The vivo V40 has been on sale in Europe for a while now, but it's only now that the company sees fit to officially announce it. It makes its debut alongside the vivo V40 Pro, the duo bringing substantial battery capacity upgrades while retaining their ultra-thin bodies. New camera setups and design are also part of the package.
The vivo V40 inherited the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from the vivo V30, while the vivo V40 Pro made a big leap forward and now has a Dimensity 9200+ chip, which is a lot more powerful than the Dimensity 8200 that powered the previous three vivo V Pro phones.
The V40 and V40 Pro share the same dimensions (164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58 mm) and have the same display - a 6.78” AMOLED with up to 120 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels.
The screen now reaches 4,500 nits peak brightness, which is a huge upgrade over the same-sized panel of the V30 series. The panel has a punch hole for a single 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 camera.
The back of the V40 Pro has a 50 MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50 MP telephoto portrait camera with a Sony IMX816 sensor, and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera with an unnamed sensor.
The vanilla V40 makes do with two cameras on the island that is inspired by star constellation Gemini in the company's words – 50 MP main and 50 MP ultra-wide.
The main cameras have OIS, and an AI Aura Light Portrait enabled by a ring LED flash.
The phones ship with Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14. The company promises "50-month smooth experience," indicating their software support length. Additionally the batteries are promised to do 1,600 full cycles and retain at least 80% of their original capacity, extending the life of the phones.
More impressively the V40 and V40 Pro bring 5,500 mAh batteries - the largest in the vivo V series yet. They also support speedy 80W FlashCharge over wire.
The vivo V40 has three memory options: 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB. The vivo V40 Pro also comes in three different variants: 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB or 12/512 GB.
Both vivo phones come in Meteor Blue, Moonlight White, and Stellar Silver colors, but the V40 has two more paint jobs – Nebula Purple and Sunglow Peach.
The vivo V40 and V40 Pro are now on sale in India, adding to the first one's availability in Europe. The two will then gradually roll to other markets where vivo operates. The V40 starts from INR39,999 in India and €500 in Europe, while the vivo V40 Pro base price is INR54,999.
idrc about the battery type, it's all about how the device is designed, like if there's sufficient cooling, if it is near the chip, if it charges beyond its capabilities, etc. And Samsung's Note7 was most likely a design/manufacturing ...
Same thing with the authors listing Nokia devices as "Li-Ion", when they're proven to use Li-Po batteries by teardowns and Samsungs as "Li-Po" with their ballooning Li-Ion batteries within a year and a half on average.
Didn't they just release the V30's? anyhow, Just purchased a V30e and I'm impressed.
