Samsung's Galaxy S flagships from last year - the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge - carried model numbers of SM-G920 and G925, respectively. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones launched earlier this year came with SM-G930 and SM-G935 model numbers.
So, it was reasonable to expect that the Galaxy S8 flagships will carry model numbers of SM-G940 and SM-G945. However, contrary to expectations, a rumor from September revealed that the device will come with SM-G950 and SM-G955 model numbers instead.
Now, the usually reliable leakster Evan Blass - who goes by the handle @evleaks on Twitter - has also confirmed this information.
Samsung Galaxy S8 models are indeed skipping SM-G94* model numbers, will ship as SM-G950 & SM-G955. Know what else is in the works? SM-N950.

Aside from this, the leakster also revealed that a handset with model number SM-N950 is also in the works at the South Korean company. Clearly, that model number suggests that the device in question is a Galaxy Note series phone, although given the Note7 fiasco, it will be interesting to see what moniker the handset will eventually carry.
Fair enough if you are not a fan of Samsung's Edge display but you like the iPhone's look with its huge bezels and Huawei's 'bezel less' design as well? Sorry, I'm confused!
