Sony Headphones

Sony will unveil the next generation of its flagship TWS buds next week – the WF-1000XM5 are coming on July 24 (Monday). The company doesn’t reveal much about them just yet, though from the “For the silence. For the sound.” tagline it’s pretty clear that the focus will be on improving noise handling.

There have been multiple leaks about the XM5 model. The new buds will be smaller, tipping the scales at just 5.9g, down from 7.3g. Combined with the case, they will offer longer battery life – up to 24 hours.

The buds themselves are said to feature 8.4mm Dynamic Driver X technology and should be powered by proprietary processors. Combined with three mics, these processors will handle Active Noise Cancellation. For calls, bone conduction sensors and Precise Voice Pickup will make sure that your voice is heard, even if you’re in a noisy environment.

There is some bad news, though. The Sony WF-1000XM5 are expected to cost €320. That’s up from the €280 launch price of the WF-1000XM4 (they were $280 in the US, so we can expect the XM5 models to be $320).
