Sony Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII receive Android 17 update

Sony released the Android 17 update for the Xperia 1 VIII in September and expanded the rollout to the Xperia 1 VII last month. Now, Sony has released Android 17 for two more smartphones - the Xperia 10 VII and the Xperia 10 VIII.

Sony hasn't mentioned which regions it's seeding the update to, but we expect it to reach the UK and Europe first, since that's where Android 17 for the Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 1 VII rolled out first.

With the Android 17 update, Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII users get an updated “Wallpaper & style” feature, along with refreshed wallpaper and clock designs, allowing them to customize the shape and style of icons.

Sony also updated the screen recording feature. It now lets you record the entire screen or just the app, while also letting you record device and microphone audio at the same time.

The features that the Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII are not getting with this Android 17 update are AirDrop support in Quick Share, Desktop Mode, and the upgraded AI Camera Assistant in Photo mode.
