Sony Headphones Hands-on

Sony’s WH-1000X series headphones have established themselves as one of the best all-around noise-canceling headphones and their fifth generation has been out for nearly a year now. The XM5s used to only come in black and silver colors until yesterday when Sony announced the new Midnight Blue version alongside its latest TWS earbuds - the WF-C700N.

The new Midnight Blue XM5s are with us here today for a quick look. The new color is a very dark shade of blue, which can be described as Indigo blue. They feature the same smudge-prone matte texture as the other XM5 variants and have copper accents on the Sony logo and the zippers on the carrying case.

The retail package includes the headphones, their color-matched case, a black USB-C cable for charging and a legacy 3.5mm audio jack cable with an L-shaped connector. The earcups are painted in Midnight Blue to match the rest of the headphones.

Everything else here is identical to the WH-1000XM5 which we reviewed last year. You can check out our Sony WH-1000XM5 detailed review for all the details on how they sound and how well they manage to zone out the fuss around you.

The battery on the xm5s last 30hrs so the Momentum's don't last 60hrs. Also the sound of the Sony are so much better all round than the Momentums

I own the Momentum 4, and it's fantastic. I'm very happy with them. The sound and bass are clear. It doesn't sound muddy like it does with Sony. On top of this, the battery lasts double. You will not regret your choice.
