It's a good phone with the perfect hardware features I want in a phone, but it's software is slightly lacking coming from a Samsung. I wish I can root it in the future, but Sharp software updates will support it for some time.
The camera is finnicky sometimes and has trouble focusing, maybe it's an issue with my camera app or just my phone.
Specifically for software, I like the feature in Samsung where you can have apps playing over each other with per-app volume levels, which this phone doesn't have. I consume lots of media and this missing feature irks me.
I like the battery level cap and no charging while screen is on, but the level cap is stuck at 90% and we can't change it to 80% for longer battery life.
Having torch brightness levels would also be nice. Those are the main software features I miss from Samsung. Everything else is good.

Can I order in lazada or shopee, but come to collect the order when it's ready? I don't live in Singapore so don't have an address to ship to, but I can visit the country for a day.
Another concern, can I fully use this phone functions outside of Singapore, not with Singapore sim card? Any lock?

I've used the R8S Pro for a week now. Needed a new phone and price dropped to about USD $495, which included a Sharp air purifier here in Singapore. The R8s pro has always been officially sold in Singapore, no need for importing, and has always sold with a gift. Back when released, it was sold with a LCD screen gift apparently. Another deal currently is for usd$30 more you can get Sharp earbuds which retail for about usd$90.
As a daily driver, I'm changing from Asus ROG 6 ultimate.
Good:
- photo quality excellent. Real 1 inch sensor photo. Can crop, get excellent creamy bokeh. Detail quite good up to X2 digital zoom. At x6 zoom image is obviously digital zoom .
- SD card slot. Put in a 512gb card, so nice not to worry about storage.
- processor is fine.
- comes with screen protector on phone, seems plastic not tempered glass though.
- excellent transfer of files and apps from Asus to r8s pro. Even wall paper transferred and applied. 179gb took about an hour. Smooth.
Fair-
-Pull down top icons all wide, can't make smaller circle.
- back of phonefeels like thin plastic. Can feel speaker vibrations through it.
-sd card holder is really flimsy.
- speakers decently loud but there is distortion when near max sound. Asus ROG 6 didn't.
- supposedly 2000 nits but can't get screen bright as ROG 6s 1000 nits max brightness
- 3.5mm jack my wired earbuds are cheap but was distortion at higher volumes
- volume increase not constant, there's a step around 20% loudness where it seems to jump from 20 to 35% which makes it hard to find an exact volume.
- no included case so waiting for case to arrive - I ordered 2 to try different ones.
- battery is about 20% after 13 hours of use.
So it's perfectly fine for this price but I'd never accept it at its release price. I'm using as a daily driver with mostly no big issues but tbh my Asus ROG 6 was better as a daily driver because I use it more to watch and listen
It's such a pity the r9 pro has no SD card slot.

Give me examples why JP brands are better.
As far as I know, they "were" known for good quality, doesn't mean they are the same as old time.
Many of their laptops has disappeared, their big electronic companies being taken over by others.
While I do not like Apple, Chinese or Sam, I don't see JP brands being better.

I've ordered it from Singapore to EU, as it had more reasonable prices than Japan. I wasn't sure if it was a legit shop, but thankfully everything went well. If you can order from Taiwan, that's another option as well. Prices on it in Japan are crazy, not to mention that you have to look out for SIM unlocked version. The phone itself is nice, I like it. Camera is very nice, although quirky. It's not for everyone's use. One of the things reviews don't mention is that this phone has amazing microphone. I'm blown away by the recording quality, and even people who don't know much about sound are amazed by the sounds even simply when talking over the phone.

Btw can user confirm gcam app on camera application? My other sharp use it
