Its hard to comprehend how Phones became way big from having 3.5inch to 4inch is normal and we got like 7inch tablets back then to were having 6.5inch phones these days, seriously the Modern phones lost their purpose from being easily be fit to our small pocket and having our even one only finger reach the other side of screen to we need a bigger pocket, to we have to type in two finger because the phone screen is too big, seriously id be damned if we end have having a 7.5inch phone in few years, that aint a phone that's a whole ass tablet🫠and our innovation is coming close to it

1. 1.2GHZ better than the iphone 4s slightly and dual core same same
2. 1GB ram samsung wins easily double than the 4s iphone
and 1080p isnt bad according to back then

I am also using my old mint-condition Samsung Galaxy S2 to reply to your comment right n... moreLucky you, this device takes me back to great memories of how my boss bought it and seeing my enthusiasm for Gadgets, gave it to me for flashing custom ROM only to make thing worst permanently, my boss goes with me and bought another S2 and again gave it to me for same purpose, and this time i made no mistake by that time S3 was also released in our market and he bought it and gave it to me for flashing custom rom, and once i did, he gifted me his S2 and it became my first Android device, a huge jump from my N95, i learnt a lot more bwith this phone too.

My phone recently broke so I went back to using this device temporarily for a few weeks, it's a bit slow but works fine with WhatsApp discord and chrome. The 2g coverage here is okayish so I haven't had an issue calling or texting. It's overall mediocre but that's what I would expect for a 14 year old phone....

David, 23 Oct 2024This was my first Android phone i've ever had. I bought it in late-mid-2011. Same! I am also using my old mint-condition Samsung Galaxy S2 to reply to your comment right now and the device is still running Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread :-)

Back when samsung used to be named "Hang-sung". The phone heated like crazy and to even play a simple game, you'd have to wait a long couple of minutes

Recently I bought this phone on a used market because I wanted to know what phones were like 12 years ago. I wanted to buy an iPhone 4s, but I quickly realized that it was more expensive and it was difficult to flash it on iOS 6. I immediately liked this phone, primarily for its compact size and its amazing display, since this is my first device with an Amoled display. I installed Android 2.3.5 with root on it and a lot of heavy games from those times, which it runs without problems. Now I'm ordering a new battery for it. Absolutely perfect experience :)

Except for two things, First is old android version ... moreOlder Samsung Galaxy S & Note smartphones tend to have TONS of custom ROM support well after their official end-of-support. S2 is no exception; you can easily find all versions of Android (yes, UP TO 13!!) on XDA, and it's even not much slower than the company's 2020 super-budget phone Galaxy A01 Core (1+16GB variant), despite that A01 Core has quad core CPU.
It's no good at HD playback anymore (like Youtube, even just on browser not app) you have been warned lol.
Plus, only look for international model GT-i9100, NOT i9100G which is for some countries' carriers. i9100G don't have custom ROMs beyond Android 6.0...

Except for two things, First is old android version i got it long time after release
Second is shitty battery, I didn't buy that phone
I was surprised after i discovered it was samsung's 2011 flagship
Unfortunately it's completely destroyed and unrepairable (i think)
I want to get it again and hack it

This was the best android phone of 2011. No other smartphone come close to this in 2011. Don't buy it now tho lol.
