Samsung Wear OS Smart wearables Rumors

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch5 family of wearables is going to be more expensive than the Watch4 devices which launched last year, at least upon release. That is, if a new rumor on the matter pans out. It comes from usually reliable Roland Quandt (of OnLeaks fame), however, so there's a higher than usual likelihood of accuracy here.

Let's see. The Galaxy Watch5 40mm Bluetooth only will retail for €300, while the LTE model will go for €350. The Galaxy Watch5 44mm Bluetooth only model will be priced at €350, while its LTE capable sibling will retail for €400.

Finally, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro will come in one size: 45mm. In its Bluetooth-only iteration, it will go for €490, while if you add LTE you'll have to pay €540. The Pro will be available in Black and Titanium. The 40mm Watch5 will be offered in Pink Gold, Gray, and Silver, while the 44mm Watch5 color versions are Blue, Gray, and Silver.

For comparison, note that the 40mm Galaxy Watch4's price was €270 with Bluetooth only and €320 with LTE, so we're looking at a €30 price hike here. The 44mm Galaxy Watch4 costs €300 MSRP with Bluetooth only, and €350 with LTE, so this one will undergo a €50 price hike.

The 46mm Galaxy Watch4 Classic, which will be replaced by the Galaxy Watch5 Pro, can be had for €400 (Bluetooth) or €450 (LTE). That means the upcoming model will be €90 more expensive than its predecessor.

These price hikes are quite something if you calculate them in percentage points, and definitely won't make prospective customers happy. It remains to be seen how many people will be willing to pay extra for the rumored improvements in battery life.
