I do see where the sensor, underneath, is protruding out farther than the Galaxy Watch4 did. But, when on my wrist, I can't see any difference. Since the protruding sensor is pushed down on my skin. But when comparing the Watch4 and Watch5, side by side, you can see the difference.
I forgot to order screen protectors for my Galaxy Watch5. I was hoping to start using it on Thursday night. But I'll need to wait until I get the screen protectors before I use it. Hopefully I can get them from the same manufacturer that I have for my Galaxy Watch4. Since those screen protectors have worked extremely well. Last a very long time. And you can't even tell there is a screen protector on, unless you look at it from a very exaggerated angle.
Seb, 23 Aug 2022Went to samsung shop, also the bionic sensor is bigger on watch 5 than watch 4 in order to inc... moreWere you looking at the Watch5 Pro or Watch5? Because the Watch5 Pro is thicker. I see the 9.8 mm spec everywhere for the Galaxy Watch5.
I was supposed to received my Galaxy Watch5 yesterday. But, for some reason, FedEx had a delay. So now it's supposed to arrive today. And since I won't be home today, that means I'll be lucky to even get it tomorrow. If they hold it at a FedEx location for me.
Went to samsung shop, also the bionic sensor is bigger on watch 5 than watch 4 in order to increase the battery size. Watch 5 thickness could not be 9.8mm then, you might want to check if this is important for you.
My Galaxy Watch5 (and Galaxy Buds2 Pro) shipped yesterday. It's supposed to arrive here on Tuesday, August 23rd.
Just spoke with a Samsung rep. Confirmed both models have skin temperature sensor.
Anonymous, 13 Aug 2022Pro onlyIf true, then Samsung better go back and re-write their press release for the Galaxy Watch5.
Because it specifically mentions the newly introduced temperature sensor on the Galaxy Watch5 Series.
They don't even mention the temperature sensor with the Pro version. In the section of the press release that deals specifically with the Galaxy Watch5 Pro..
If only the Pro version has it, then there are going to be a boat load of pissed off people. Because Samsung will have clearly misled people, with the Galaxy Watch5 press release.

Saying "With an increased surface area and more direct contact with your wrist, Galaxy Watch5 tracks health metrics now with even greater accuracy than Galaxy Watch4. Plus, its powerful 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor works in combination with the other sensors of Galaxy Watch5 series, including the newly introduced temperature sensor, to provide users with an in-depth understanding of their wellness. The temperature sensor uses infrared technology for more accurate readings, even if the temperature of your surroundings changes"
And under the specs, on the same newsroom page, for the Galaxy Watch5. Under sensors it lists "Samsung BioActive Sensor (Optical Heart Rate + Electrical Heart Signal + Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), Temperature Sensor, Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Light Sensor"

I think both models (Watch 5 and Watch 5 pro) have the body temperature technology but I might be wrong.
I just pre-ordered my 44mm Galaxy Watch5. I'll be trading in my Galaxy Watch Active for $75(which is more than I paid for it last year). And then my Galaxy Watch4 will become my daily watch. With my Galaxy Watch5 only in use on evenings and weekends.
I also ordered the Galaxy Buds Pro2. Since the deal, with getting both, gave me $80 off the normal $230 for it.
Plus Samsung had zero percent interest financing, as usual.
