Tech spYda, 05 Jul 2025Better than the iPhone 6Yeah i use same phone and this is so good phone!
great phone. too bad planned obsolescency caused this phone, which hardware wise is still very capable, unable to use newer applications just because the android version is old.
Better than the iPhone 6
I'm using this phone in 2025 and have found it surprisingly capable. I've upgraded it to Android 9 with no issues. I am very impressed by this phone's performance and features: the 2GB RAM, 16 GB eMMC 5.0 and apparent lack of 'bloatware' makes a world of difference in terms of boot time and general performance, it makes me want to use the phone rather than dread picking it up. The display is good I think considering the price range. My phone was also unlocked and came with not one but two sim slots. As for the battery? Seems fine.. lasts days on standby and a decent amount of time in use including watching video's. Camera seems good enough, but what do you expect in this price range.. less performance? No thanks. The only gripe I have is the difficulty in customisation of notifications but that's minor. So all in all I think this phone looks sleek and performs very well even today, it makes me consider Samsung for the future. Hope this helps :)
Still have it till now work just fine struggling a bit with the battery but it's still working though great phone
Bought this phone on launch, which was more than 7 years ago and this phone still works with no major complications. Even though this phone was the lower end of Samsung J lineup at that time, I can still use it for basic stuff. Kudos Samsung, amazing budget phone.
I still use mine today as a mini tablet as managed to lock the puk years ago. Works fantastic still. Runs Android 9, still works fine with a number of apps I use it for. As there's no GSM in use, battery lasts great for a week in standby still. Screen at 720p is still fine for basic web browsing, specially on a 5 inch screen. When I can remember to dock it, I 3D printed a stand for it so that it can display a clock 24/7. I've used the 1080p camera for video projects when needing additional angles. This phone today is still a true work horse and imagine I still be using it many years from now. Only shame there's no more official security updates, with it still connecting to the web.
I bought a used phone from a girl, the screen was cracked and the phone was crooked. measured with a ruler, the difference between the two ends in the middle is about 2 mm. then it became clear why, as the girl turned around, her phone was in the back pocket of her short jeans... I told her this, she acknowledged it with a flirtatious smile, and then: let me use it wholeheartedly.
Had this phone for less than a year because the one before died from a drop into water. This phone power button stopped working, but afterwards it died to the rain. A slow death, as it can't be charged and powered on anymore. Shame it died early. Quick check on the repair price it was just not worth it over buying a new phone.
At least moving on to the Realme 5s helped a lot in owning a phone that can still work today even after multiple drops on the hard floor, going through multiple rains. Sure it got a broken volume button and a thin line of cracked screen recently, but the fact it survived nearly 3 times longer than a Samsung is very helpful.
Anonymous, 10 Mar 2024It was an ok phone when new but now that I've had it for 6ish years it's completely ... moreAre you with Vodafone or Talk Mobile? If so they've just switched off their 3G network all in the name of Net Zero. The result is that these phones now continually switch downwards from 4g to 2g in order to answer a voice call, but do not revert to 4g automatically for data. This often results in you trying to pull data over the 2g network, which is next to useless.
It was an ok phone when new but now that I've had it for 6ish years it's completely useless it takes a life time to open Google with out going to a website

is the galaxy J3 still in the market?
Micheal, 06 Oct 2022The phone is great but it doesn't have 16 gb of rom it have 12It does have 16GB of storage. Android + system apps are taking up around 4GB, so in the settings it does come up as only having 12GB, however the phone has a 16GB storage chip, therefore is 16GB.
