Tech enthusiasts and the crowd that buys anything that somehow works, no matter how mediocre, as long as it is dirt cheap. I know it's a poor country but damn, nowhere else is there such a big rift

And swap that old Snapdragon for a fresh 6 nanometer Dimensity and this could easily become phone of the year.

Xiaomi has created a system that directly contrasts with India’s repair culture. They do this by flooding the market with a large amount of cheap phones. These phones are hard to find replacement parts for, difficult to repair, and because of Xiaomi’s lack of software updates, hard to resell. While budget phones are helpful for low income people, it’s impossible to make a brand new phone for the Indian equivalent of just under $100 without someone, either the workers, customers, or both, getting screwed over in the process. To fix this, Xiaomi needs to release fewer models that are easier to repair, sell replacement parts for these models, and provide longer software updates so these phones last long enough to be resold. Of course, these phones will be more expensive, but they’re longer lasting and will be more prevalent on the used market, so people will pay less overall. Plus, if Xiaomi pays the people who make their phones more, then these people can afford more expensive phones that last longer.

I know they are trying to make it look fancy, but to me, it just looks really tacky. Doesn't help that the specs are e-waste per usual. Indians will buy it like it's sliced bread.
