potato4k, 14 Nov 2023Xiaomi/Poco phones look good on paper, but longevity wise will suck if you end up with a buggy... moreAs I have both MIUI and BKK group phones, I gotta say that, BKK creates a better OS.
I also have 2 years old MIUI device and everything just fine. I even just have another security update. Of course, Android 12. But it is a budget phone (I bought it around 150 USD), no irritating problems, hardware holds great after 2 years, software shows no bug/lag after 2 years. No problem with me.
potato4k, 14 Nov 2023Xiaomi/Poco phones look good on paper, but longevity wise will suck if you end up with a buggy... moreI have seen your comment in another thread, which is why I'm responding to it here and now.
Xiaomi has fixed almost all of the known bugs in MIUI. However, there are some very few bugs left, but average users would never notice them. You have to know what you are looking for and where to look, in order to find them. These bugs could be annoying to some nerds, but they are not intrusive in any way and will not stop you from using F5.
Many bugs exist in the Android OS or the apps (Firefox), but it's the MIUI that will eventually take the hit, because it's what end-users see, which makes it easy to blame the skin.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of uninstallable bloatware in MIUI. I can live with them, however, I don't understand why Xiaomi is preventing me from turning them off. Xiaomi's irresponsible behavior open our phones to potential and nasty malware attack.
I am 100% sure that there are a considerable number of bugs in even topnotch flagships of the highest rank. The MIUI of today is not what it used to be. The MIUI of today is modern, stable and feature-rich, try it now and you'll see the difference. When I first encountered MIUI in my Poco F3 few years ago, I seriously considered throwing out my newly purchased phone, because it was full of bugs. Now I can't live without my F3.
potato4k, 14 Nov 2023Xiaomi/Poco phones look good on paper, but longevity wise will suck if you end up with a buggy... moreWhy are you spamming this post ?
Xiaomi/Poco phones look good on paper, but longevity wise will suck if you end up with a buggy MiUI(HyperOS) update and your device is in the tail end of support. You will basically end up with a phone that is technically good in hardware, but very frustrating to use due to buggy OS that will never be fixed.
I only recommend Xiaomi/Poco phones to those who are comfortable with custom ROM. For regular users, I would even recommend Oppo or Vivo first (despite my hatred towards BBK) than Xiaomi. As much as I hate ColorOS/FuntouchOS, they’re actually in better shape than MiUI.
Anonymous, 14 Nov 2023why many people complain about photo quality? Is it so bad? The review says it's very goodWhat is most important to me is whether I can get a clear signal when I am out and about and in that respect the phone excels. Now the camera. 99% of phone users will see something they like, take their phone out, take a swift photo of it and put the phone back. They don't care about what size sensor it has or how many pixels the camera has. Bearing that in mind I have found that the F5 takes perfectly fine photos.
"We're very happy to see that you can disable the white pill bar that shows up at the bottom of the screen when you turn gestures on, since we don't think it's anything other than a pointless eyesore, but if you turn it off, then you can no longer swipe across the bottom of the screen to quickly switch apps"
I tried this on my F5 and I can use bottom gestures to switch across apps. Stock MIUI 14.0.6 Marblein.

walkman8, 14 Nov 2023(Please stop mentioning FM radio in 2023)Why? Please give an intelligent answer or don't waste our time.
Everyone I know listen to FM radio in my country, yes in 2023! It's all for free.
Many shop/restaurant/taxi/public transport/hospital/factory staff listen daily to FM radio.
My dentist put on some soothing classical music on FM radio while treating my teeth.
I have traveled a lot. Almost everyone in Asia/Africa and many in the EU listen to FM radio.
I personally use Internet radio, because I have an unlimited data plan with 5G network from my mobile operator. However, this option is not readily available to everyone, especially if you live outside of EU. FM radio is the only way for many people all-over the planet to get access to unlimited, continuous and affordable music/news.
It's very easy to knock off the Internet, whereas almost impossible to block the FM radio. That makes FM radio the only chanel of broadcasting in natural catastrophes, in case a government need to acutely communicate important and lifesaving information to its citizens.
Please respect my time. If you're incapable of giving a good answer, then don't!

I have been using the F5 since it was released. The camera and photos are almost perfect. The problem I have with this phone is the absence of FM radio and a lot of uninstallable bloatware that cannot be turned off. These bloatware are constantly accessible via the Internet.
(Please stop mentioning custom ROM.)
