Motorola Edge 40 Neo

Oh, did I mention that it released in 2021?
Imagine buying the equivalent of a 2021 midrange phone at the price of a 2023 midrange phone. It's stupid, right?
Well, that's exactly what you're getting with the A54.
justasmile, 23 Nov 2023And with crappy software, cameras and update support (while updates may not matter to you, rea... moreI would argue that the software experience is actually better on the Edge 40 Neo.
That and installing GCam on this phone improves the cameras a lot, especially with skin tones.
What I would like to touch on, though, is that OneUI has become a bloated mess over the years that is in no way better than software from competing brands.

dopdecada, 21 Sep 2023I fail to see the point of this phone, why should you choose it instead of the Edge 40?Because all videos show the neo on par and better than the edge 40 and the sudden price drop to just 30 pounds more than the neo says it all !
**Reference to Gorilla Glass removed from Motorola UK website**
The Motorola UK website has updated the listing for phone. The words 'Gorilla Glass 3' have been replaced with 'NEG T2X-7' (Nippon Electric Glass).
Two of the 1 star reviews on the webpage say the glass is easily scratched.

You've written you are completely disappointed by the phone and the build quality and that it fails on multiple fronts but you don't list any specific reasons.
Could you be specific on why you are disappointed?
I regret to say that my experience with the Motorola Moto Edge 40 has been nothing short of a complete disappointment. This smartphone, in my opinion, is subpar and does not live up to the standards one would expect from a brand like Motorola.
The Moto Edge 40 is a glaring example of a cheap and poorly designed mobile phone. The overall quality is substandard, and it fails to deliver on multiple fronts. From the build quality to the performance, I have encountered numerous issues that have made me regret my decision to purchase this device.
Furthermore, my interactions with Motorola's customer service have only added to my frustration. The lackluster support and unhelpful responses I received from their customer service team have left me feeling completely dissatisfied. It's disheartening to see such a renowned brand provide such a lack of care and consideration to its customers.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against purchasing the Motorola Moto Edge 40, and I caution anyone considering a Motorola product to think twice. My experience has been far from pleasant, and I would urge the company to take serious steps to improve both their product quality and customer service if they wish to maintain their reputation.
This has been an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience, and I hope that my feedback will prompt the necessary changes to ensure that others do not have to endure a similar ordeal.

Have you received the update from Motorola yet? It is supposed to fix the battery drain issue. If you haven't yet and then after you get the update, could you let us know if the battery life is better?
I purchased this phone 3 days ago. First of all; Battery. Yes,it can finish fast. How fast? Depends of how you use it. I think that people that use the phone, late at the afternoon should plug it. But it charges fast. In a quarter of an hour you have reached 40-50% (not sure exactly,I wasn't counting...). Speakers are impressive! Very loud, you shouldn't have any problem, even in a crowded area. Of course don't expect bass you should buy a proper speaker if you have such expectations! Not only with Edge 40 Neo but with any smartphone! Screen. Very bright, I can see it while wearing sunglasses but I didn't do the test under the sun yet. I think I will have no problem neither. Vivid colours by default. Sometimes doesn't catch fingerprint reader but not often. Works well, generally speaking. Face ID excellent. Extremely lightweight and handy! Especially for me that I have small hands. Camera. Very good during day. During night introduces motion blur and if you are near a light source beams get in the way. Good colours. I need to test it more during night to have a good assessment. It seems bright enough though the night photos I have taken so far. Bigger issues motion blur and street lights but I haven't played with the camera enough yet. Price terrific! I can see why it seems better choice than Samsung galaxy A54. Very close generally speaking and a huge gap in price! Even for me that I am perfectionist. We are talking about just 400€ guys come on! In Dxo Mark I think that in global smartphone phone ranking it's 109 the A54 and 103 the 40 Neo and we are talking for AT LEAST 100€ difference! Performance. I have read some comments about the processor but I can tell that it runs fast and does not heat. And is Ready For. I tried it on my smart TV and it works very well. A real computer. Equal to Samsung Dex. But I have to notice that it has USB type 2.0. So you can't have video output by it. But, through Miracast I watched X'men with no issues at all. Same for my videos at 1080p. Microsoft word works and Gmail as well. Very convenient. I have some control issues in console mode but I didn't watch the tutorial about the controls in that mode so I will give it a second chance. But it fills the screen in the right way with no frame drops.
Its seems Motorola has issued an update to fix the poor battery performance. It would be good to see GSM Arena re run the battery test.

A lot more people... moreA54: Stabilization is only available up to 1080p 30fps,
Poco X5 PRO 4K 30FPS EIS
Edge neo 4k 30FPS EIS.
Thats why A54 sucks for me. I do not play games.
BananasInPajamas, 28 Sep 2023With very light usage my wife is getting 5+ days. She isn't a typical user but does have ... moreLot of connectivity (4g,5g signal) issues having in moto devices (according to so many youtube videos)
Please explain how A54 IS less priced than NEO
I Just One Question im my mind .
The selfi Cemera video Support Bokeh mood ??
With very light usage my wife is getting 5+ days. She isn't a typical user but does have WiFi calling on and Bluetooth and were are on a poor signal area. Can't really comment on battery for watching videos and playing games but for day to day usage the battery is fine and on standby is very good. Processor appears perfectly adequate for regular phone usage, again accept it will be rubbish for gaming. Camera is meh, but I usually use a pixel so I'm spoilt.
Overall, for a light user it is a really nice handset. £254 in UK with free Bose quiet comfort 2 buds.... Can't argue with that value!
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2023Because the Samsung costs almost double. You get 8+ Gen1 in the price range and fast charging, etc.I literally see the Moto Edge 40 Neo priced higher than the A54
