I just can't understand by the fact that there are so so many people recognizing that this phone is using the SNAPDRAGON 8 GEN 1, people this phone is using the SNAPDRAGON 8 "PLUS" GEN 1. Those 2 processors are very different from each other, the 8 PLUS GEN 1 is the upgraded and cooled version of the 8 GEN 1. 8 GEN 1 is based on SAMSUNG 4NM ARCHITECTURE while the 8 PLUS GEN 1 is based on TSMC 4NM ARCHITECTURE......
NeverPayOver1000eur, 15 May 2023Snapdragon Gen 1? Hard avoid. No matter how good the rest of the phone is.
That CPU is some... moreIt is using snapdragon 8 "PLUS" gen 1 which is a lot better then exynos 2200 and snapdragon 8 gen 1.
Be aware that the phone can´t use Lighthouse even with location set up in Malaysia!
Huawei will be no go until the Lighthouse become available outside Malaysia.
Apps like Gboard (second space) etc. are not enough.
Summary:
Display - great
Camera - awesome, !!! variable aperture is the game-changer, every bigger sensor should have this. It was enough blurry pictures !!
Battery - 7:20 and still 18% of battery left
Really wanted to buy this one but it's software is just horrendous, not because it doesn't have google but a lot of it's simple stuff like searching an app requires some permission and internet connectivity and those bunch of ads called 'recommendation' you'll have to disable manually in some cases cannot be disabled completely. it doesn't even have a simple video player or music player, it'll direct you to their streaming apps. and compare to other UI's, their EMUI's seems so cluttered, comparable to those in tecno etc. themes doesn't help either, most of the available themes are so tacky.
some of this may be regional problem but these are the problem with my huawei few months ago until I decided to get a replacement as a secondary phone.

Be it smartphones, tablets or laptops the company offers hardware and software integration way ahrad of competition.

Samsung has high volume and low desirability so price crash. Apple has high volume and high desirability so price somewhat stays. Huawei has no volume so pricing will remain stubbornly high.
Huawei is for patriots to China. Back when the ban was announced, officials were rushing to buy to show loyalty to the party. The founder has very deep ties with the party elites.

Kindly checkout a device like the Huawei p30 pro four years old and still expensive to get, but the s21 plus is only 2yrs old and is now very cheap,
Huawei just rules together with apple and Huawei's aim is to take down apple interms of tech and innovation, just ask USA
CompactPhones5ever, 11 May 2023>No 5G >No Google services >1200 eur lol lmao, even. Also, handsets from huawei tend to depreciate in value very fast, a lot of people seem to overlook that. That's why people tend to gravitate toward the iphone, if you decide to sell your device later on, at least, with an iPhone, you can still sell it at a much better price than a huawei.
No 5G no Go..
Snapdragon Gen 1? Hard avoid. No matter how good the rest of the phone is.
That CPU is somehow worse than the Exynos 2200 in all respects...

After five generations of P Pro series to this date they cannot reproduce cool green color. All of their greens have olive mud to it. Second they are still tone mapping HDR into oblivion. Just look how orange these animals are and how tone map sharpening is in the background. Problem with Huawei is they are stuck with image processing from Pixel night-into-day heyday. They need to ditch RYYB sensor like asap.

However the lack of apps in Huawei Appstore might be an issue and that deserves consideration in the review.
Honestly don't get the fuss about 5G.
Google I understand partly. In a country like Denmark there is a mandatory government app that needs google play store to function (silly i know) so from that perspective it's a turn off. Otherwise than that it's quite easy to live without that framework.

proshooter, 13 May 2023Surprised that this reviewer uses "mediocre" to describe a flagship phone.
I... more& can u please kindly tell me whether the huawei p 40

of the p40 pro plus as im planning to get one one day
?
Surprised that this reviewer uses "mediocre" to describe a flagship phone.
I'm based in Shenzhen and had played around with the Huawei P60, P60 Pro and the P60 Pro Art. I've also played around with X3. These are all top class phones, amazing build, great design and of course incredible cameras. I was thinking about Magic 5 pro, then Oppo and now Huawei. Huawei has always been the king of cameraphones, and it wins again on DXOMARK. Couldn't care less about 5G, and 5G implementation in Australia is still garbage. Customer service at Huawei is amazing. I bought an Honor laptop and wanted to upgrade my OS to English. Even though Huawei is a separate company, they still help me upgrade my OS. Would be fantastic to have Huawei stores in Australia. We need them. I'm getting tired of Apple stores and Google corners in JB hifi.
For the omission of Google, this is not a problem here in China. China's ecosystem is basically wechat/wepay or alipay + social media (weibo, bilibili etc.). It is even more seamless than Google because wepay/alipay work so well for just about everything. Everyone has a phone and use these apps DAILY. That's about 900 million users who don't care about or need Google. I can pretty much go without google in Australia, although Google Maps is still quite useful.
Now I've mentioned X3 earlier, and I have to say, it is the BEST foldable phone I have ever seen. Not only is it thin, the screen is almost creaseless, you can barely seen any make where it folds! I don't know how Huawei does it but it is miles better than Samsung. You do pay a premium however, it's about 13k RMB, about 4-5k more than the VIVO and other foldables. If you want the coolest foldable phone available/not available near you, then get the Huawei X3. If you want the best cameraphone, get the P60 pro or P60 pro Art.
The ultrawide pics are really good, both daylight & night time.
But lack of 5g is really a deal breaker for me .. That why I still keeping mate 40 pro around.
Nick Tegrataker, 12 May 2023Gmail? Drive/Photos? YouTube? Wallet? Don't tell me that I could just use "alternati... moreYeah. I miss the ease of using Google in China. That is one of the reasons why Apple is so popular in China, the ecosystem. If you buy different android brands they all have their own email apps, app markets, wallets and cloud storage systems. When you change brands then you also move to a different brands cloud storage and app market etc. It is a bit of a nuisance unless always sticking with the same Android brand but even then it's not as easy as with Google as all these brands don't have the same reources. With Apple, you can pretty much use the ecosystem the same as if you are outside China
