Anonymous, 07 Apr 2023Many brands have phones over $1000 with 1080p screen. Yeah. Brands that make terrible phones. Your point?

Yeah to someone who's got too much money to give a damn it's not overpriced. Go ask Elon Musk if he thinks it's overpriced. Since it matters that it's a "relative term" right?
"My points were simply that your quoted prices of the different phones was illogical (comparing prices accross different regions)"
Wrong. I live in the US but use a Chinese Redmi K40. It gets the job done. At first I thought the cellular bands were an issue then I realized T-Mobile is just a terrible company and has been reducing speeds over the past few years.
"the phone is actually cheaper than many similarly specced phones launched in Europe this year"
1) Comparing trash to trash doesn't make it any less trash.
2) Not everyone lives in Europe.
3) Even if you do, you can buy the same phones everyone else does.
4) Idk what your network band situation is like. But don't praise Motorola for taking advantage of the situation to sell an overpriced phone.
Price has already dropped 50 euros from 900 to 850 in my country, and the phone has barely launched... good news if this continues. At 700 euros this will be a bargain.
Edge 40 Pro uses UFS 4.0 storage which means it's manufactured by one of the 3: Samsung Semiconductor, SK Hynix or KIOXIA. As of yet, Micron doesn't produce it nor is known when they will start at all.

And tests showed that write/read speeds of UFS is average/typical for 3.1. It is the previous model (Edge 20) which has UFS 2.1.

They only have them on their global variants. I have tried a few Honor phones in stores and all have no gms including the latest Magic 5 series in China. There are some rumours on Honor forums that they might add gms to the Chinese magic 5 pro via an update but nothing official has been confirmed. Of course global models are a different story

overpriced phone, motorola not worth this price they ask
xcv, 08 Apr 2023Actually Motorola mostly buys and uses UFS-based multichip packages (uMCP) made by Micron.Yep, like my moto edge 30 (midrange) uses umcp ram+storage. Storage speed is faster than ufs 2.2. while ram, it is lpddr5.

In terms of os upgrade, moto is completely failed. If it is free of cost, no one should buy.
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2023For those who are wondering where's the 4th mic It's behind the camera flash. Wow, didn't spot it, but why they hide it? How does it affect video quality?
Damn, the Oppo Find X6 Pro review taking a while.... don't know if that's a good sign or not
joe nodden, 08 Apr 2023"everyone knows European prices are way higher" Cool so you admit it's over... more'Overpriced' is a relative term. I think I've demonstrated that it is competitively priced against other global launches this year. Whether that is overpriced depends on the individual and what they think it's worth. For you, clearly it's overpriced. For somebody else, they may believe it's not overpriced. My points were simply that your quoted prices of the different phones was illogical (comparing prices accross different regions) and that the phone is actually cheaper than many similarly specced phones launched in Europe this year. That's all
joe nodden, 07 Apr 2023All those are a thousand? You're delusional.
Xiaomi 13: $715. Still overpriced though... moreI was going by European prices (which is where I live).
Not everywhere is America. All of the phones I mentioned go for well above 1k, even on the second hand market. Not wrong.
Anton-, 06 Apr 2023Forget about sd and Jack 3.5, that doesn't come back anymore! As far as I agree with you... moreSony did remove the headphone jack before on their 2018 and 2019 flagships, but only for them to put it back and keep it to this day since the 2020 Xperia 1 Mk2. If Sony can do it, everyone else should have no excuse to do the same, and Sony also sells their wireless earbuds.
Good thing that they are promising 3 years of OS support and 4 years of Security patches.
If similar policy is followed for other models, definitely will bring back the Motorola ( now Lenovo) to the market as a preferred brand.
