It's 2022 and I hate this phone. It's so bloody good that nothing is good enough to replace it when the battery finally started to die down:( I need a smaller daily driver, but everything including S flagships etc feels like I'm downgrading. The camera setup is still top notch, the screen a pleasure to watch, the operating system still snappy and smooth...
It's been years, dammit, When will Huawei release another brick so I can finally move on???

5 years in almost (got it at launch on 11.11.2018 when I worked in China, their version of black Friday), and I think this has been my best purchase when it comes consumer products in my life. Screen still spotless to this day, even next to the countless dents and scratches on the aluminium frame surrounding it that stand as a testament to the number of falls it survived.
Battery has only recently showed signs of slowing down when it comes to mileage per charge, and the only issue I ever had was the charging port, since last year, but that's an easy fix.
Now, I'm slowly starting to think of what could be the logical next step in a potential upgrade... And frankly, nothing comes to mind. I have been out of the smartphone realm since this beast has served me so well, so if someone has a contemporary model that would be a definite upgrade value-wise, would appreciate suggestions so I can compare.

Romane, 05 Mar 2021I agree, two years too, only in Russia. And I don't see what can change it todaySame. Over couple years with my 5G version (8/256). What an amazing device. Still surprises me sometimes with how much it can do when pushed to the limit. I personally think from mate 20x it's only foldables. Unless Huawei surprises us with Mate 50x.

Bought this masterpiece (6gb ram 128gb rom) back in 2018. Finally For the first time, it felt like i had a phone that feels "complete". 2½ years later, theres s21 ultra, red magic 6pro, rog phone 5 ultimate, mate 40 pro etc, tried a few of these 5g phones with more advanced updated features, but something just didn't feel quite right. Long story short, sold my mate 20x and got myself a brand new Mate 20 maX!!!😅😅😅 Was so happy i was able to get my hands on the maxed out 4g version (8gb ram 256gb rom, evr-al00 converted to evr-l29). Gonna hold on for a few more years until another masterpiece that feels "complete" comes along.

Please do not spread rumors. I am using Nova launcher on this phone since Day 1 and have used Microsoft Launcher too for sometime.
