Nothing chose MWC Barcelona as a starting point for its Phone (2) teaser campaign but a new post by a Qualcomm executive on LinkedIn (of all places) delivered a major leak regarding the phone’s chipset. Alex Katouzian who serves as Qualcomm SVP and GM of the Mobile, Compute, and XR units issued a post on the professional networking platform to congratulate Nothing on the upcoming Phone (2) launch and explicitly named the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset powering the device.
Original post on LinkedIn pre-edit
The original post has since been edited to exclude the exact chipset and instead specifies Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 series SoC. Following the well-received Nothing Phone (1) midranger, Nothing’s second smartphone is expected to contend in the premium/flagship killer segment. Carl Pei also confirmed Phone (2) is coming to the US later this year.
>What's the problem with 8+ Gen 1? Just because it's slightly slower than 8 Gen 2? Because people here are stupid and care about meaningless benchmarks to justify why their crap tier chinese phone with some poorly binned but high tier...
All synthetics are stupid ways to quantify performance. Benchmark gaming is egregious, especially in the mobile space and phones act basically like space heaters during benchmark runs to get their scores.
