Xiaomi Android Poco

The competition

The Poco X7 Pro costs €370 for the 8/256 model, €400 for the 12/256 and €430 for the 12/512. The Iron Man Edition, where available, is priced at €450. But Xiaomi is also offering a limited time €50 early bird discount across all official mi.com stores.

The Poco X7 Pro offers the most powerful hardware in this price range and together with the premium Dolby Vision AMOLED, it is unmatched by the competition. Still, there are some good offers out there.

Poco X7 Pro review

Let's start with the Motorola Edge 50. The phone costs about the same as the Poco X7 Pro and offers a similar display and an even more premium design with drop protection. Its performance is inferior to the X7 Pro's and so is its battery life, but its triple camera is a real treat with a 50MP OIS 1x-2x primary, a dedicated 10MP OIS 3x telephoto and a 13MP AF ultrawide/macro cameras. The selfie camera is far superior, too. If camera quality and versatility matter to you, the Motorola Edge 50 would be the better choice.

The recently released Honor Magic7 Lite has a premium drop-resistant design, a bright AMOLED screen and a promising 108MP OIS primary with all sorts of high-quality zoom options. The battery capacity is even larger here. It has a far inferior processor, though, and an uninspiring 5MP ultrawide secondary camera.

Xiaomi's own Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is basically the Poco X7 with a better main camera. Meaning you get less value and mid-range performance but at a higher price.

We would like to mention the Galaxy A55 for its better camera experience and integration with Samsung devices. But it will be replaced soon by the Galaxy A56 and the Poco X7 Pro is a far superior device in everything else.

Our verdict

The Poco X7 Pro turned out to be an excellent bang for the buck offer. It has a cool and stylish design, a great AMOLED screen and the fastest chip in the class. The battery life and the charging are quite alright, and so are the speakers.

We were also impressed by the smoothness of the HyperOS 2 and its AI options. And let's not forget the promised three major Android updates and 4 years of security patches.

Poco X7 Pro review

The camera is mostly mediocre, except for the 2x zoom quality and the video stabilization. The rear cameras get the job done, but there is nothing impressive about the quality. The selfie shooter is one of the worst we've experienced lately, though.

If not for the so-so cameras, we would have given an excellent mark for this Poco X7 Pro. But even with these imperfections, the Poco X7 Pro is the most powerful smartphone around the €400 mark with a premium display, cooling, and top-notch battery and charging technologies. And it surely deserves a spot on your shortlists.

Pros

  • IP68-rated design.
  • Bright AMOLED, high resolution and refresh rate, Dolby Vision.
  • Fast charging.
  • Flagship performance (including sustained).
  • Good main camera, excellent video stabilization.
  • HyperOS 2 is smooth, nice AI tricks.
  • IR blaster.

Cons

  • Battery life is okay but low for a 6,000mAh battery.
  • No charger bundled in the EU.
  • Poor selfie camera, so-so ultrawide.
  • No eSIM support.
