Xiaomi Poco Pocophone Android In for review

Poco launched the Poco M3 Pro 5G in May, and six months later, the company is back with its successor, dubbed Poco M4 Pro 5G, which we've received at the office for review.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G has three color options - Poco Yellow, Cool Blue, and Power Black. The last one's actually gray despite what the name might suggest and that's the one we got for review.

Before we check out the Poco M4 Pro 5G, let's see what its retail package includes. The smartphone comes bundled with the 33W power adapter, USB-A to USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, a clear plastic case, some documents, and a bunch of Poco stickers.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G is built around a 6.6" FullHD+ DotDisplay with 90Hz refresh rate and 450 nits typical brightness. The panel also has a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz and can switch its refresh rate between 50Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G's display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has a punch hole in the center for the 16MP selfie camera, which supports Panorama Selfies.

Moving on to the back, we are greeted with a massive camera island that reminds us of the Mi 11 Ultra. However, unlike the Mi 11 Ultra that features three rear cameras, the Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with two - 50MP primary and 8MP ultrawide.

Under the hood, the Poco M4 Pro 5G has the Dimensity 810 SoC, and it runs Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out of the box. Our unit has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage onboard, but you can also pick one in 4GB/64GB trim. And the smartphone also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G features a side-mounted fingerprint reader and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack that's located at the bottom next to the USB-C port. The smartphone also features dual speakers, IR Blaster, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, dual 5G standby, and NFC.

Keeping the entire package up and running is a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W Pro fast charging. Poco says the bundled adapter can fill the cell from flat to 100% in 59 minutes. We'll test that claim ourselves in our review along with other Poco M4 Pro 5G features, but if all this sounds familiar to you, that's because the Poco M4 Pro 5G is a rebranded Redmi Note 11 with a bigger camera island that spans across the smartphone's width.

Agreed, using X3 NFC The screen can't push beyond 420 nits + contrast adjustment from snapdragon which pixelates and ruins color accuracy And contrast is bad, pixel response is bad that the screen can't show 60hz without ghosting ...

Again, trashy IPS dim screen, 90hz for the marketing purposes. Anyone that not sitting 24/7/365 at home must stay away from this smartphone.
