The original Oppo F1 got a mid-range chipset courtesy of Qualcomm. However, the Chinese OEM decided to follow up with MediaTek chips on the F1 Plus and the F1s. That definitely isn't a bad thing in itself, however, while the former got some decent, although not too powerful Helio P10 silicon, the latter is stuck with a downgraded version.
Compared to the MT6755, the MT6750 isn't true octa-core and has a lower clock speed on both the CPU and GPU. Plus, it also lacks the benefits of the 16nm production process. Performance-wise this all leaves the F1s at pretty much the same level as the original F1 if not worse. And that is not ideal for a proper successor smartphone, isn't it?
At least you still get 3GB of RAM, which is plenty for multitasking, and the 720p resolution is quite easy on the silicone when it comes to gaming performance. But overall, synthetic benchmarks look disappointing.

When given a multi-threaded task, the strength in numbers shines through, but individually, the Cortex-A53 cores fail to impress. At least the phone always runs cool and even under pressure it never gets warm.

GPU performance tells the same sad story. The 720p display resolution does help the F1s to some extent with on-screen performance.

Putting numbers aside, we are satisfied with the real-life performance especially at this price point. There are some dropped frames occasionally while navigating the UI or scrolling through apps but in general, the phone behaves itself and is no problem to use.
However, if you are looking for a strong performer for heavy workloads, the Oppo F1s is perhaps not the best option.
