Oppo officially mentioned the Find X7 lineup for the first time. The first teaser revealed the series will debut with LYT-900, which is a new 1”-type sensor by Sony. We expect the platform to be in the Find X7 Ultra smartphone, as the latest reports suggested there is no Pro version incoming.
The Sony LYT-900 is not official, but leaks suggested it is 16.384 mm in diagonal with 50 MP, each being 1.6 μm big. The sensor does share a lot of specs with the IMX989, also a 1”-type sensor by Sony, and we have to wait for the official unveiling to see what the difference will be.
According to Digital Chat Station, the new platform is made on a 22 nm node (instead of 40 nm of the IMX989), reducing power consumption. There will also be Dual Conversion Gain, which is an automatic adjustment between high-gain and low-gain modes based on ambient light changes. In practice, this means more clear photos with realistic colors.
What Oppo said about the LYT-900 is mostly marketing talk. The Find X7 device will bring advanced processing, increased light sensitivity and clarity of the image, and a broader dynamic range, all of these promising users an “unparallel photography experience”.
The most important factor here is that mobile telephones will get an increase in dynamic range. As for Sony it seems they are concentrating on APS-C and Full Frame sensor cameras. Although even if they brought out one more rx100/rx10 it would fill ...
Save your money and buy gr iii instead or just use mobile phone with 1inc if you don't want to carry 2 devices.
