Samsung Android

Today Samsung began rolling out the stable release of One UI 5, starting with the Galaxy S22 series (at least the Exynos-powered versions of the phones). There is also a long list of Galaxy phones that are working through the beta program and squashing bugs before they get their own stable version of the new software.

What is One UI 5 all about? The official introduction video is a 2 minute overview of what’s new in the latest version of Samsung’s custom user interface.

The company added a ton of new customization features, both automatic and manual, to get your phone (and watch) looking just the way you want it. There are also some practical improvements like stacked widgets to save space on your homescreen.

Also, for devices with larger screens (like, says, a Galaxy Fold) there is a new task bar. One UI 5 also combines the Privacy and Security controls into one screen with automatic warnings if something suspicious is going on.

You can learn more about One UI 5 on its official page.

I hate the blur effect too. Thankfully there is an option in the accessibility settings to completely remove it
