The Red Magic 9 Pro was recently relaunched by nubia with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under the name Red Magic 9S Pro, and now another phone is getting the same treatment.

The ZTE-owned brand scheduled an event for July 23 to see the nubia Z60 Ultra with AI, boldly advertised as "the most powerful Ultra on the market."

The nubia brand already released the Z60 Ultra flagship in December 2023 with the then-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Now, the company is planning to bring it with the AC version of the SoC that has one Cortex-X4 CPU core clocked at 3.4 GHz (instead of 3.3 GHz) and the Adreno 750 GPU at 1 GHz (instead of 0.9 GHz).

The announcement in December 2023 was before all the AI hype became so common in the world of smartphones, and nubia wants to jump the hype train and make its phone relevant again, this time infused with AI features. However, it is funny that this phone is introduced as "the most powerful Ultra", because the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has had the same AC variant since its launch in early 2024.

The under display front facing camera is the nemesis of this otherwise Giant of a smartphone. If they are relaunching I wish they would replace the selfie cam with punch hole or even capsule or island. The picture quality is not the same as open and ...
