The Phone (2a) from Nothing only launched back in March and it's already getting an updated higher-end version. The Phone (2a) Plus is a souped-up Phone (2a) with an updated chipset, a new 50MP selfie camera, and two new color options - metallic Grey and updated Black.
Dimensity 7350 Pro is the big new change. It's an overclocked version of the Dimensity 7200 Pro from the Phone (2a) built in collaboration with MediaTek exclusively for the Phone (2a) Plus.
The new chip features an eight-core CPU with 2x Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 3.0 GHz alongside 6x Cortex-A510 units @ 2.0 GHz. The GPU uses the same Mali-G610 MC4 unit but is now running at 1.3 GHz. Nothing says you can expect a 10% faster CPU performance and a 30% bump in GPU-intensive tasks. Dimensity 7350 Pro features the same 5G band support as the Dimesnity 7200 Pro which limits support on US networks.
Moving on to the second major change – Phone (2a) Plus gets a new 50MP front-facing camera which replaces the 32MP front-facing cam on the Phone (2a). The new imager now supports 4K video recording at up to 30fps. It’s still located inside the punch-hole cutout on the 6.7-inch AMOLED screen (FHD+ 120Hz). The back houses the same 50MP main cam (24mm) and 50MP ultrawide lens.
Phone (2a) Plus is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery with 50W wired charging support, a slight upgrade over the 45W on the Phone (2a).
The software side is covered by Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14 with ChatGPT integration and a new News Reporter Widget which reads news aloud using Nothing CFO Tim Holbrow’s voice. That feature is also available to other Nothing phones via the Nothing Widgets app from the Google Play Store.
Nothing Phone (2a) Plus starts at $399/£399 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage trim. Pre-orders start today from nothing.tech.
The Nothing Store in Soho, London will offer the Phone (2a) Plus from 11AM BST on August 3. Buyers in the US can get their hands on the device from August 7 at 9AM ET via Nothing’s US Beta Program.
Phone (2a) Plus will start at INR 27,999 ($334) in India for the 8/256GB trim and INR 29,999 ($358) for the 12/256GB version. Both versions will be available via Flipkart from August 7.
Nothing will announced further market availability for the Phone(2a) Plus in Septmber.
Yes but I hope they promise and bring more than that for 3 or else they have no chance. Some suggestions that can be made: A main camera with hopefully Exmor-T stacked sensor (I mean, the LYT-T808 or other from the series) or at least a senso...
Honestly, I think the owner of the comment means that the supposed integration of the AI features originally brought by OpenAI (not Nothing themselves, therefore not their innovation) to UI wasn't very necessary (it's already accessible via...
