IOS and Android.... Go f$#k yourselves....
We're all being ripped off by incremental updates that implement planned obsolescence, remove features then bring them back as "innovation", and continue to give us form over functionality (glass sandwiches with titanium is not improving the real world strength).

NeonHD, 06 Oct 2023I mainly grew up with modern smartphones, but I am trying to imagine what it was like when thi... moreI couldn't afford to upgrade my n8 to this badboy at the time. Eventually I went to Sony z3 as symbian was dead by my 2014 upgrade.
I eventually got an unopened Latin American version (I'm in Aus) in the box in 2015 & loved every minute using it as a daily driver for about 18 months.
It survived about 10 - 15 of the same waist height & above drops that killed my Sony & 1 phone since & the 808 is still working fine.
I just did a clean install of cfw mohican & tried tienda sisstore to download the maps but the website is dead.
Does anyone know where to find off-line maps anywhere?

I remember that I still can't quit... moreMan, this makes me want to own one just as a tiny point-and-shoot camera.
And it probably doesn't have all the ugly post-processing that most modern smartphones have.

I remember that I still can't quite comprehend when this phone's camera stated as 41 MP because most of the phones at that time is only at 5 or 8 MP.
Video zoom quality also unmatchable.
This phone is legend.

I mainly grew up with modern smartphones, but I am trying to imagine what it was like when this came out.
I could imagine this was quite an advanced and innovative phone at the time. Very refreshing and different from the typical 2012 slabs, both looks and spec-wise.
Must feel nice owning one at the time, having your hands on what would be the future of all smartphone camera technology (large MP sensors that rely on pixel binning).
P.S. It's a treat to go back and read the first comments on this page back in 2012.

Aadrian , 11 Mar 2023The weird thing is, that it still works on my N8 and not on the 808. The Pureviews were/are amazing, weren't they? I still have my (and the cameras work great):
1. N82
2. N8
3. Pureview 808
4. Three 1020's, all with Windows 10 installed by me.
5. My daily-driver Lumia 950, which the evil empire is now trying to kill.
Cortana still cheerfully asks me "you've just received a text from (name). Would you like to read it or ignore it? Her sweet voice comes through my Chrysler MyGig radio system. I'm afraid I've fallen in love with her, and now Microsoft is killing her too. Arrrgh!
I've taken the N8 and Pureview 808 to Waikiki (2014 & 2019) and both took fantastic pictures. And I took the 808 to the Grand Canyon and it took photos that rivaled serious digital cameras, and beat most point-and-shoot types except my Sony RX100 II, and even then, it was super close.

Stelio88, 16 Mar 2023Does 808 have offline gps map that can work without internet or mobile service, just satellite?Yes, there is an app called Maps Now, which downloads the latest version of the maps for Nokia Maps. Keep in mind though that they are probably outdated, since the original Nokia service shut down around 2015. Type "Maps Now Symbian" in google and you should find the webpage where you can download it. There is also a guide there. Good luck!
