If you haven't pre-ordered an iPhone Duo yet, you're in for a long, long wait

Apple iOS

The Apple iPhone Duo is available for pre-order starting today – or rather we should say that it was available. The very limited supply became painfully apparent when mere hours after launching, Apple’s online store was already showing a shipping date of January 22.

The original plan was for the iPhone Duo to start shipping on October 23 after a week of pre-orders. And some people will surely get theirs on that date, but most Duo buyers are in for a wait.

If you haven't pre-ordered an iPhone Duo yet but want one, you're in for a long, long wait

We checked the online store in multiple countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, India, Australia, New Zealand and China. They all showed the same thing – January 22. We tried clicking through various color and storage combinations to no avail.

Normally, we expect to see the extra-pricey 1TB and 2TB variants to have better shipping dates as most people naturally gravitate towards the cheaper models. That this is not the case is telling for just how limited the supply is overall. And, of course, it also shows the strong demand for Apple’s first foldable, including from people for whom money is no object.

You can try your luck at your local Apple store, the brick-and-mortar kind. Maybe they have units on hand – the online page says “Pickup: Check back for availability on October 24”. It’s possible that third-party retailers will have some stock outside of what Apple has reserved for itself too.

Anyway, analysts like Jeff Pu were proven correct – last month, Pu said that the iPhone Duo will be hard to buy this year due to limited supply. According to the analyst, only 6 million units will be produced this year, down from the initial target of 7 million. For context, Apple is expected to sell a combined 72 million iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max units in total by the end of this year.

The first wave of iPhone Duo pre-orders covers over 70 countries and regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, the US and Vietnam. We didn’t check all 70+, but we’d be surprised if there is stock available anywhere – but if we are wrong and you do find Duo units somewhere, make sure to leave a comment.

You'd be bitter if you were using garbage 24/7 too. Google literally copied apple in 2007 (before they had blackberry clones) and called it a day and never innovate in a form factor ever since. They tried with their terrible foldables but n...
