Honor Android

Honor announced its take on Android 17 with MagicOS 11 today at its Global Developer Conference. It brings an iOS-inspired liquid glass design, which Honor developed using its custom Luminous and Hummingbird base architectures. They optimize the user interface dynamics, AI processing, and hardware performance.

Honor claims that despite the fancy new look, MagicOS 11 brings up to 20% faster system animations compared to MagicOS 10. The new system also features updated icons, menu items, widgets and customizable tinting for the home screen icons and dock.

The other key addition is the updated Yoyo AI assistant. It is configured to serve over 1,000 scenarios and offers integration with over 10,000 third-party AI services (in China at least). Honor even claims its AI assistant can accomplish long-distance tasks up to 100 steps.

Storage Space 2.0 promises lossless compression of stored data and frees up to 60GB of data. Elsewhere, MagicOS 11 brings seamless file sharing and connectivity with Apple ecosystem devices as well as those from Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi.

MagicOS 11 is set to make its debut on the upcoming Honor Magic9 series phones. The public beta is already open for over 18 devices, including the Magic8 series, Magic V6 and Honor 600 models.

At this point, I'm convinced that my Nokia 8 from 2017 has a much better and polished UI.
