sanshiro, 02 Dec 2025Why do I need Turkish Airlines for that ? I check my phone and I can find my luggage anywhere... moreThe logic is, if TK lost your bag or, even worse, left it at the departure airport, you can use your SmartTag to tell them about it and TK staff will pick it up, load it onto the next plane or DHL truck, and send it to you at your destination hotel, instead of you having to scramble to find that bag and track it.

Funny that they partner this with Turkish airlines earlier than even Korean Air and Asiana Airlines

I was... moreYou can, and people have done it for years, the thing is that this is an actual official initiative they have, with guidelines that (assuming you ever need to actually locate something) would make the process significantly easier, as people involved would have passed at least a crash-course on what is what and how it works.

Surely you could do that with any tracker . I flew to Australia with Turkish this year. I was able to track my luggage with the Tike tracker I had in the case and had it got lost I could have sent Turkish the Tile link which includes a picture of my case

Additionally, the feature is NOT required for it to work, just makes it able to point out with an arrow towards the location, everything else is the same.

That's cool. But Samsung offers UWB to only three phones! (S25U, S25+, S25 edge). Neither the base S25 nor the popular A56 get the UWB needed for using these SmartTags.

Oh and I hope this SmartTags service to airline customers is free and complementary. It'd be sad and hilarious if they charged extra for this.
