NVidia has made in total 7 small server SBC Arm boards for micro servers. By "mini server" you're talking about a mini desktop PC or the old Windows Home Servers (of Win 7/8 era) or something of a NAS ... that's a very niche and fruitless industry.
NVidia as of Friday cut their investment in ARM! as they are NOW a competitor.
I'm surprised AMpere acquisition is being allowed.
vi, 15 Feb 2025PassMark records first-ever decline in CPU performance after 20 years of growth, next gen runs... morethinking x86-64 has had no upgrades in 5 years is genuinely mental. man the gsmarena commenterbase is incredible.
PassMark records first-ever decline in CPU performance after 20 years of growth, next gen runs on Linux and not x86 (x86 has not improved in the last 5 years)

The article does point out that Nvidia is already selling ARM servers, but no one is really targeting the low end of servers these days, except maybe AMD. If anywhere, that would be where ARM could find its niche.
nooo, I have to have a shoehorn to get it into a laptop, let me guess x86 and windows are past their best before date, freedom is spelled Linux MicroOS?
server chip eater, 15 Feb 2025Is it food?anything can be food if you're hungry enough
Hugo, 15 Feb 2025Not bad. But Arm should start in low end servers because there is a lot of potential there esp... moreyou do know arm as an architecture runs everything but small servers right
this is just saying they actually designed a chip to compete in the market, not that its the first chip to use arm on a server.
Hugo, 15 Feb 2025Not bad. But Arm should start in low end servers because there is a lot of potential there esp... moreI don't know how to break this for you. Altera even with old design is a high end offering. They have availability problem with last generation and still lagging heavy behind when it comes to use of last ARM designs. You can get it even in OEM workstation form as:
https://www.phoronix.com/review/system76-thelio-astra
ARM wants to cut time to market regarding their in the hause IP for server's but it won't gona work without development boards and workstations to follow. It's shameful that third party as Cloudflare do the optimisation for their servers because they are incompetent. Their current CEO (Softbank - ARM) is a moron and if that doesn't change they might end as in X2 The Threat (video game).
Not bad. But Arm should start in low end servers because there is a lot of potential there especially after intel stopped paying attention.
Is it food?
