Nameless, 09 Feb 2025Yeah, ok - wireless charging is important from what you've mentioned. Everything else you... moreYou genuinely don't think you'd notice ltpo yielding like +15-30% battery life? That's crazy.
I have to admit, I bought the S25 at first because I wanted to try the compact route again. However after I got it and gave it a shot...having previously had the Z Flip 6, I began to feel as if the S25 screen was too small and crowded. So I returned the S25 and got the S25+ for barely $100 more with a trade-in.
In the end, I preferred that larger screen and larger battery.
Comparing highly priced scrappy phone with + sized scrappy phone.
Better title "S22 IV vs S22+ IV"
its almost same than predecessor, but only a minor changes and the price.

Phones except for the chipset.
I don’t expect nor that I hope they succeed with this line up, I’m wishful it will all flop.
Took a page from the competition's book of reusing old hardware and updating just the chipset. These could be called S25/+ SE and priced lower.
"Premium build quality" it is not. This is Samsung's 3rd generation of massive cost cutting on its most premium line. To have a sure evidence put an old S20+ alongside S24+ or S25+ and compare how front and back glass is joined to the frame, check the glass edge roundings, check the frame itself. The simplification of technology is visible to the naked eye. Then there are two less obvious areas of cost cutting: 8-bit displays – this tech is actually 8 years old and even the famed LTPO is a yesteryear's child, whereas lowly sub-brands of Xiaomi offer 10-12 bit displays for years and cost much less than Sams. The other one is batteries and charging. Samsung's are backwarding stuff both in chemistry and charging.
Woohoo, 09 Feb 2025https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Samsung-Galaxy-S25,vivo-X200-Pro-mini,Xiaomi-15/phones/... moreIt's definitely a noticeable size and weight difference when have them side by side. I compared the s24 size (approximately the same as the s25) with the Vivo x200 pro mini in a Sundan store in China. It's shorter, narrower and a lot thinner as well as the weight difference so the in hand feel is very different. A problem with the x200 pro mini design is the camera bump is centered and too low. For me my hand would cover part of it when holding it. The Xiaomi 15 has a better camera positioning in the top corner which doesn't really affect the grip. For smaller phones centered camera modules aren't ideal as there is less space to hold the phone. However the cameras on the x200 pro mini are of course superior to the Xiaomi 15 or Samsung 25. There are pros and cons to every phone though. If the Vivo x200 pro mini did launch in Europe it would be a good bit more expensive there than the Samsung s25 as the Vivo x200 is already more expensive than the Samsung s25 in Europe. It would be different though in Asia for pricing and value
These phones were flagships, but now have become three years old midrangers...still with flagship prices.
And as there will always be gullible people, I won't be surprised if S26 is also the same old recycling...
Samsung is probably embarrassed, hence the announcement of the Edge version
Biggest disappointment in the whole industry for me. 4th year row in a row with virtually no upgrades makes me really sick how Samsung lost its innovation spirit.
The cameras are a bad joke from this phone and I just can't read the reviews praising how 4 year old hardware is good. Lack of details, still visible noise. Pathethic.

Dont get me wrong. I am also disappointed with Samsung this year.
But come one. A55 is nowhere close to S25+.

IT IS actually just BARELY bigger, though 25g (or ~15%) heavier, which would be more noticeable, given the fact that it has bigger sensors and lens (except the UW) and a ~43% bigger battery!!
And that's just the size/weight difference, I am not even gonna start on the "flagship" level feature disparity!!
Though I do agree with your last bit of Vivo intentionally limiting it through software and also gimping on h/w features like USB 3.2, seriously!!??
