dbjungle, 26 Dec 2024I agree with this, but I think it would be better if it turns into (or can be turned into) sep... moreI would be interested in 15'' body and 17'' screen XD but truthfully, with mobile processors hovering around 50W, its hard to imagine something.
Performance aside, XR devices could ''roll'' it in any way, but if performance and multipurpose is the key, bendable screen laptops/tablets are the best way - you will get either more screen vertically (tho bended) or you can use it opened with stand in vertical/horizontal fashion.
Hardware keyboard or projection could be used.
As for rolling, I can imagine that for TV or phone, but not laptop - you either need a keyboard protection or if used a screen, you may as well use bending screen.
Edward Coventry, 21 Dec 2024Am I getting trolled or are you saying the cmf phone is more innovative than the 2007 iPhone?I don't know, are you? I do not understand the question... are you trying to imply that iphone 2007 was some kind of innovation? Just asking, i do not want to burst in laugher sooner then neccessery.
This is going to flop so hard. It may look and sound practical, but it's just dumb Lenovo marketing same with the nose webcam a few years back. None of these products that defy the regular laptop platform tends to survive all that long. This design seems more like a look at what we can do, but it's actually not intended for use like what car manufacturers do with prototype cars. the extendable screen unless supported by a counter mass in the base will probably have this thing falling over backwards and I can already see this thing having a worse hinge issues than HP laptops. Furthermore the webcam will mostlike be useless in the extended format even with tech like center stage. lastly it probably will be so costly that you could by a few secondary portable monitors and a good laptop all together XD

There's people that want innovation and there's people that complain about inn... moreIt is entirely the consumers choice to buy into a gimmick. People bought into the foldable phone gimmick, now it's another valid option for those with deep pockets that want a compact device with a large screen. Again, it's not like they had to choose the gimmick, its not replacing any other product in the lineup and it's not exactly better at everything that the consumer has to pick its like a "Pro" version of another device. It is an option.
It is up to the consumer to choose how they spend their money.

There will always pros and cons regarding innovations indeed.
But what I was trying to say wasn't about people's perspective on them.
More to how vendor companies treat us customers.
I mean, if a company offer a product which they call it "innovation" to throw the price up to the sun, yet the "innovation" they're offering is nothing more than a "gimmick" only, well? I'd rather call it a deceiving scam.
I won't bother if a company being so capitalistic offering me their product, yet if one offers me to buy their product then it has to be worth every penny to get me interested before I start to consider to put it into the shopping cart.
And every customer deserves to be treated this fair.
So, gimmick or not?
Anonymous, 21 Dec 2024"But, seriously, Lenovo, what's the point?"
More vertical space will be usef... moreI think coding jobs would meet a deadend on a rollable screen.
Thought?
403 Forbidden, 21 Dec 2024> Just remember, people nowaday tend to spend money on well functioning products, and they ... moreNot everyone tho...
Only a small portion of community do.
vrvly, 22 Dec 2024Having a roll to the sides would be way better, there are superwide screens anywhere since it ... moreI agree with this, but I think it would be better if it turns into (or can be turned into) separate displays rather than ultrawide only. Ultrawide is not for everybody, I personally find it more of a hassle than 2 separate displays.
Title is wrong. The first rollable OLED was the LG OLED R TV. Yes, it barely sold at an insane price, but it was a consumer product available for sale.
Lenovo innovating again and again. Love it. Looks promising.
Having a roll to the sides would be way better, there are superwide screens anywhere since it more useful than having vertical one.
Well, unless its a phone.
Actually given Lenovo's attempts with slides for a phone, I'm not sure this display is strictly rolled up, I think is more likely that they slide it in along the bottom of the device - could be wrong of course.
EskeRahn, 21 Dec 2024More likely a new more compact form factor dictated by the size of a 'standard' keyb... moreBut i hope a PKB??
Anonymous, 20 Dec 2024In case you don't believe, search on YT for " sony rollable oled" to see video... moreBro first was LG what Sony did was just some scetches which could anyone draw.
For example if a soldier from WW1 draw on sand square we can call it a sketch for first TV or tablet. Just an example.
LG were first to turn piece of paper into real thing.
Carol-, 21 Dec 2024Wait, what, apple's iclone is innovative?🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for the laugh, even cms phone 1 is m... moreAm I getting trolled or are you saying the cmf phone is more innovative than the 2007 iPhone?
Name it Excel book. Also using DAWs with multiple tracks, editing videos will multiple tracks, all visible at the same time, no scrolling. I might buy this.
Watch out Apple is gonna steal Lenovo's idea and make new MacBook Panorama Ultra as new "innovation" in 2030 😱
Whatevs, 21 Dec 2024maybe some few need this thing? LOLAs a work laptop thos might actually stick.
I can't tell if it's a rollable screen laptop. I could've sworn that was a laptop with a secondary screen behind the main screen and an upward sliding mechanism. I'll wait for the official announcement of it.
