Cpt.Power, 01 Oct 2024Wonder how much will be latest exynos. hahaha.... Exy...what? hahaha
Snapdragon has been on an extortion drive for the last few snapdragon iterations. It's doing similar stuff with its patents on various connectivity. If its laptop Snapdragon X processors get good reviews, it'll probably sell at Intel Prices, before AMD democratized the Market.
igguk1, 01 Oct 2024That's why qualcomm and mediatek are catching bionic every year. This year they will be pr... moreBEFORE and AFTER DCS tweets, they do not and did not exist in any form or source that can be or will be produce. These are constructs, factually incorrect "income generating" tweets.
My holding comment is posted now, I will revert back to this article after Qualcomm summit, however there has been many incorrect tweets by DCS relating to the next Qualcomm Soc
I am fluent in two languages English and Google Translate
The article posted this
'The Snapdragon is over 20% MORE EXPENSIVE, and for a lot of devices that could make a difference in their very pricing. The two upcoming SoCs are both rumored to be absolute beasts in terms of performance, easily surpassing any other chipset that's ever been made for Android devices."
Google Translate has this
The N3E process is quite expensive. The cost of this generation of flagship cores has skyrocketed by 20%±. The purchase of S8750 is about 190 dollars. The cost of this generation of flagship SoC is almost the same as that of a mid-range machine
"has skyrocketed by 20%±", so no period e.g. 1 year?
As Apple are the only manufacturers ATM using the above.... you follow. We know that he meant FLAGSHIP SOC prices increase by 20%)
There is a a significant omission in the tweet in addition to another error.
DCS from nowhere has plucked 20%?.
Dimensity 9400 appears to has been 'calculated' based on the $190 by DCS
Actionable comments ideas will be based on facts that are not in dispute, not on any uninformed opinion. Another leakster could come forward with $200 & the differential is less just for the retweets
Vegetaholic, 01 Oct 2024Apple chipsets were 2 or 3 generation ahead of any Android chip not long ago. Constantly years... moreChipset is not only a CPU.
Apple is less and less ahead on CPU and even introduced Arm v9 3 years later than Mediatek and Qualcomm...
On mobile phones they are late :
- on GPU
- on generative AI
- on video decoder
- on ram bandwidth
- on storage speed
Apple is still unable to build :
- 5G modem
- Bluetooth (and are late to use the best tech)
- Wifi (same as bluetooth)
- GPS (same as bluetooth and wifi)
...
Vegetaholic, 01 Oct 2024Apple chipsets were 2 or 3 generation ahead of any Android chip not long ago. Constantly years... moreVery false information...
Fanboys don't know the truth
Anonymous, 01 Oct 20246g is pointless on a smartphone, 5g already drains a lot of battery , has small range and most... morea 6g with 600km/h on actual grounds will give u 300kmH because of congestion, like the current 5g in reality is actually performing on 4g speeds, humbly lets think by practical experiences, also just speed difference or nm between processors is not at all a point of choice, a poor algo/sw will still perform poor on a faster cpu, just to say it will complete faster poorly, so who decides price?
My snapdragon 8 gen 3 phone suddenly is very efficient after samsung update I have more battery life I was surprised I still have 56 to 48 battery left in the evening. If the later iterations have better efficiency it would be great my phone may last even 2 days
47cosmos, 01 Oct 2024Skip this, im waiting for 8g5/8g6Why skip the biggest flagship soc performance leap in years
For incremental increase of the 8 gen 5
Anonymous, 01 Oct 2024Little kids over here are obsessing over benchmark numbers. A18 Pro will always be more eff... moreThat's only partially true. A16 and A17 lost in efficiency wars against SD, A16 and A17 was less efficient and drawxmore power than SD 8 gen 2 or gen 3 on max performance mode. Problem is you right, it used to be like that Apple was making most powerful and most efficient chips but nanometers game slow them down. They cannot anymore build insanely powerful and efficient chipsets because TSMC now is limiting factor and Apple has to adjusts to TSMC progression with lithography not other way around, that helped SD to catch up with Apple. SD has advantage now in GPU space while Apple chipsets has advantage in CPU space, though both on the mercy of TSMC. As we know Apple now trying to cut SD progression while booking all the chips in advance like 2nm ones will only be available for Apple first next year.
Kale, 01 Oct 2024Of course they will outshine A18 lmao. You never buy ifail for hardware they are very weak in ... moreApple chipsets were 2 or 3 generation ahead of any Android chip not long ago. Constantly years from years, since like Apple introduced 64 bit chips more than decade ago. That is over, still Apple is leading in CPU department, they still kings. GPU wise, it was dethroned few years ago by SD, and so far SD keeping the lead with Mediatek sounds like will do the same. Though Apple's GPUs still are fast just not the best anymore.
Keep that in mind, that Qualcomm wanted to sell this monster for 240 dollars per piece. Thanks god we have Mediatek, but we need more competition, two leading chip makers is not enough.
Apps run better on SD ... like behance etc

I'm saying the US can't attack MediaTek in the same way they attack Chinese companies by saying that they can charge less for their products because they receive govt subsidies. MediaTek is a Taiwanese and not a Chinese company.
FYI, Qualcomm and MediaTek are both fabless chip makers that rely on chip foundries like TSMC to manufacture their chips.
Anonymous, 01 Oct 2024There's no way Qualcomm can justify charging 20% more than MediaTek for a similar perform... moreWhat government subsidies? I know the US is giving large subsidies to semiconductor companies that set up manufacturing plants in the US but this applies to Taiwanese and US firms and those from other countries. For example, TSMC, Intel and Samsung have all been given subsidies to set up foundries in the US. How do subsidies apply to qualcomm? To be honest it's up to manufacturers to decide on which chip they want to use. They now have options. If they are not satisfied with the Qualcomm price they can switch to mediatek. There is no monopoly for the chips now as there are alternatives basically for nearly all perfomance levels and the manufacturers have the choice for which chips they use.

A18 Pro will always be more eff... moreArchitecture ?
Apple start using Arm v9 this year with A18/A18 Pro
Qualcomm and Mediatek use Arm v9 since december 2021!
Thank Geekbench 6 for testing Android flagship with Arm v8 instructions set !
Don't know what Geekbench 7 will find to troll Android (and X86)...
Frequency leaked on Dimensity 9400 is 3,63ghz, A18 Pro's is 4,04ghz
(9300+ 3,25ghz, A17 Pro 3,78ghz)
GPU comparison is even worst, A18 Pro only match last years 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300

This year, all will use TSMC's N3E node
Anonymous, 01 Oct 2024They sell a worse product at a lower price I don't see anything of use or value hereEven if the MediaTek chip is worse (highly doubtful), is it worse than the Qualcomm chip by 20%, which is how much more Qualcomm is charging for their chips? Qualcomm has been overcharging for their chips for a long time now due to their monopoly status. They finally have some competition after the US govt sanctioned their Chinese competitors and silly little fanbois don't think that's a good thing.
