Ahmed, 20 Sep 2024Auto call recording option,
???Call Recording was removed on all Infinix phones after June 2024 softare update, due to Google Policy restrictions.
This also applies with TECNO and itel phones as well.

Lol Pointless to you ... moreYou're probably correct when you said that most people using iPhone in EU use iMessage. But for what? Same is true for Nigeria, but they merely use it to receive and send SMS. That's it. And that's because it's the SMS message app after all. They barely use it for anything else. There are WhatsApp and Telegram for everything else. I believe that the case in EU would be quite similar.
Some people using those same infinix models had most likely encountered bug(s). Likewise those China-ROM vivos, I'll be willing to wager that they have bug(s). You don't even use all of the China-focused features.

No one, but Samsung forces you with a permanent notification that pops up again and again until you update and is very irritating.
I would like to stay on a stable software version that my phone currently has, because I have no need to update for unnecessary new features with the potential of bugs. On my currently stable vivo X Note the Android 14 update basically broke the otherwise perfect Gallery up, thankfully it was corrected with another update within 2 days, but I mean come on, I updated TWICE to get the same experience that I had before.
DarlingYext, 19 Sep 2024"Cyberchum would prefer a phone with SD 7+ Gen 3 that will receive 4+ OS updates."
... moreYou're changing the goalpost again. 😁 You simply said a better hardware (which is the kind of carpet statement most of make here, by the way) then I offered you an example, but you now came with specifics.
A phone that was released with android lollipop (updated till Android R) and SD 810 some 9 years ago would still be quite usable for social media, calls and browsing if it had more than: 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, UFS 2.2.
Recently, I saw an LG G4 on nougat. That phone launched with lollipop, had SD 808 (dimensity 6300 is better), 32GB internal +3GB RAM, eMMC 5.0, yet it was quite usable. The owner knew better than to install a truckload of crappy apps on it, though, which is how it should be.
I'm not a fan of One UI on mid-low end phones, however (I've never used a phone with One UI Core, so I have no opinion on that, but absence of some features suggests it'd be better for lower hardware). 8GB RAM version of Galaxy A16 5G would still be quite usable 6 OS updates later if it has a near-stock UI.
The OS is pretty matured already, just refinements here and there, which is why updates are largely incremental. I reckon that Android 15-20 would be leaner than Marshmallow to Pie.
Why won't the phone last more than 3 years if handled well? Tell that to the Redmi 3s that I'm using primarily as wifi hotspot.
At the end of the day, no one would force anyone to update. Those who want to will update and those who don't want to won't. I'd rather have that option, but I understand if you wouldn't. 🤷🏼♂️

Well, I'm located in the EU and most people using iPhones do use iMessage here. Plus I don't think I want any bug anywhere on my phone if I'm paying more than 1000 USD for it, or even around 700 USD, it should be flawless.
"On a side-note: just like you claimed sometime ago in another article that you have never experienced bug on… (is it infinix?).."
Yes, it was an Infinix phone, but the same is true for my China ROM vivo phones. I'm a pretty heavy user so I think I would spot the bugs if there were any. However I have seen at least one bug* on my Poco F2 Pro which made it so I needed to restart it, and since that phone is long out of software support it won't be fixed, so yeah it's not just Apple and Samsung, but I'm saying it can be done without bugs. So why can't the biggest players do it?
*my keyboard got stuck on the screen while typing in messenger, and I couldn't even finish the message, to the other party it just showed me non-stop typing for 3 minutes, the restart fixed it, but I do use messenger on all of my phones daily and I've never expereinced such bug before.

Sure, that's a pretty nice middle ground, which would be awesome, phones like the low-end Samsung phones with already slow SoC but 4 years of OS updates is more of what I meant by pointless update support.
The upcoming Galaxy A16 which is said to receive 6 years of OS* updates is the most pointless of them all, that phone won't last more than 3 years anyways, so why bother.
*may not be true, but even if it will only receive 4 years it's still too much.

I've already mentioned in a couple of my previous comments that I didn't mean bugs have anything to with hardware, I'm saying the exact opposite, that it's a software thing, which is why I dislike software updates.
What I meant was pretty simple I'd like to think.
Hardware > software
And that products including (their) software should be finished before being published or launched to the public.

DarlingYext would prefer a phone with SD 8 Gen 3 that will receive 0-2 OS updates.
Cyberchum would prefer a phone with SD 7+ Gen 3 that will receive 4+ OS updates.
I bet that SD 850 can comfortably handle more than 90% of what Cyberchum and majority of buyers do with their smartphones on a daily basis. But Cyberchum definitely wouldn't like to miss a handy feature or support that comes with an OS update just because he chose a SoC that makes virtually no change to his smartphone usage.
"Not my problem that Samsung's best hardware also gains bugs with software updates." This statement shows that you aren't really as knowledgeable as you'd like to think you are. Genius, the bug had nothing to do with the hardware. 😂

No, and that's not even what I was talking about. Bad hardware combined with pointless software updates is worse than good hardware with no updates. That doesn't mean good hardware can't be combined with software full of bugs.
"3. Doesn't iPhone 16 series launch with iOS 18? 😉"
It sure does, and it's an unfinished software that they pushed out as an update to older iPhones as well, instead of focusing on finishing it.

Why not just launch the finished phone after checking it 1000 times so it has no bugs and works perfectly, instead of having to update it twice a month so some bugs get fixed while some get introduced?
