Everyone seems to be misunderstanding the huawei ban. The ban us on 5G infrastructure devices.

It does not extend to consumer devices such as mobile phones,

Those dongles have superior DACs than whatever you found in a phone. Yes, you can't charge and use the phone at the same time, but there are adapters that'll also do that.

And put other brand's flagship phones to shame.

But alas, this is just wishful thinking.

Gotta sell 'em proprietary earbuds or earbuds that has the brand's blessings.
Otherwise, the sound output will be bad (as it is intentionally designed).

Chinese have doubled down their efforts and soon they will match the menufactruing capability of TSMC and they are matching the capabilities of samsung. Chinese are making top quality displays already and they are already capable to design better SOCs, all they needed was a fabrication facility and soon they will achive it as well. Huawei's 7nm node is better than TSMC's 5nm so they are not that far off. This also provided Huawei a chance to capture the domestic market and push out western brands.

Innovation is not only on paper, you have to execute.

Now execution of Huawei and it's subsidiaries are seriously hampered by the trade restrictions that reduce their access to high end manufacturing tools, semiconductors and manufacturing capacity (in Taiwan/Korea).

justasmile, 04 Sep 2024You think Huawei can prevent them from doing all that? At this point all that matters is pricing. It's impossible to sell on discount when you are under a trade restrictions for SoC, controllers, RAM, flash, etc.

If you start selling at discount in that situation, you start to bleed money fast.

                              Not a good strategy.
