As a rather vocal hater of Whatsapp i must admit that I find the community features helpful.
I use it to organize events and gatherings with my friends.
You can announce something like Who wants to go see Deadpool and members of the community can subscribe to that event in a group when interested.

WhatsApp now similar to social network rather than messaging services. Channel, community group, and maybe in future add API and wallet functionality, like Telegram. 👎
