You can compare between different iPhones models, sure. Not not between iPhones and Android phones. You cannot even compare different brand of Android phones since software plays such a crucial role.

Numbers (such as battery capacity, CPU clock speed and core count, amount of RAM and more) lost a lot of their meaning since software plays such a big role in contributing to end-user experience nowadays.

potato4k, 24 Jul 2024Suit yourself. SE4 will use A18. No reason for Apple not to. I genuinely don't think you read what I said at all. They will use something older because it's CHEAPER

No amount of optimization that can makes the battery lasts longer with any phone with 5000 mAh under the same usage.

Just because they have less purchasing power it doesn't suddenly mean they pay more for older chips. And even with better purchasing power apple will still get older chips cheaper.

Andoid OEMs... moreYes and TSMC will pass that saving to the smartphone manufacturers like Apple in terms of contract negotiations. Companies pay a certain amount for these chips made for them over a period of time. If these chips still get manufactured after the contract ends (which is more than likely unless it's certain chips that don't sell well) then they will rediscuss contracts and since the chips cheaper, tsmc can sell it for cheaper with the same or higher margins.

Also you mean to tell me manufacturers are gonna pay more for an older processor to put in a cheaper phone? Think about that for a second.

Andoid OEMs are not comparable as they are taking a lot less margin than Apple. In reality, even if they were using older SoCs, they were paying more per SoC.

The higher the yields, the cheaper it is for the buyers. This is why cheaper "gaming/performance" android phones use last years flagship. Snapdragon sells them cheaper because it's cheaper for them too.
