Raghuvarv, 10 Jul 2024Oh? The G34 in my country comes with Android 14 out of the box and will get 15.
But, yes, t... moreWe can expect at least a single update to Android 15 for the G34, but I highly doubt that, especially given that the Moto G32 is still stuck on Android 12. Same thing with all other similar or higher-tier Motorola phones at the moment.
My only hitch with the G34 is that it's a downgrade in every possible way (except the chipset), compared to its namesake predecessor. Also, the 3 year-older Nokia X10 and X20 are comparatively better purchases in terms of both specifications and updates, from Android 11 to Android 14 and an extra year of security patches.
At least, the Moto G73 is a better buy, disregarding the age and lesser cumulative updates.
Anonymous, 09 Jul 2024I do as well, finally a phone with an IPS screen and decent specs.
I just want a phone withou... moreSwitched to an IPS screened phone early this year. I'm fine with the black becoming less of a black. Eyes definitely got better and less strained on daily use.
It's a budget oriented phone so performance is so-so (helio g99), for daily use it's a walk in the park though.

Anonymous, 10 Jul 2024Moto g54 was extended to Android 15.Okay, but we were talking about the G34, not the G54. The G34, in regions where it launched with Android 13, will only get one upgrade. Presumably to android 14. However, I do suppose it could be that they plan to just skip to 15, to match the one launched with android 14 in a different region. Not sure why they did that, but . . . we'll see I guess :-)
Raghuvarv, 10 Jul 2024Oh? The G34 in my country comes with Android 14 out of the box and will get 15. But, yes, t... moreYes, that was a strange thing with the Moto G34. Depending on region, it launched with either Android 13 and will get 14 as it's last, or it launched with Android 14 and will get 15 as it's last. In the reqion where it launched with 13 it still has not received 14 - despite an android 14 ROM technically existing. . .
Phone is good. Pricing should be 11999 for 6/128 & 13499 for 8/256 cuz why would people buy Redmi 13 5G at price where they get 6 Gen 1+44W+better OS in IQOO Z9x & Vivo T3x. As always, Xiaomi is overpricing. Nonetheless, phone is good & I hope Big Indian Festival Sale will cut it under INR 10000.

But, yes, the software support side of things with Moto . . . not good. At all. On that we are in 100% agreement.
However, I do like the device, because - in addition to offering a lot for the money - it is one of only a few models within its price class in this country to support a wide enough range of frequency bands that I don't have to worry when I travel abroad. And the signal reception is the best in its class. Even gets a usable 4G signal in areas where a twice or thrice as expensive Samsung shows only one or two bars on the reception metre.
Dunno why they don't bring this phone (or last year's Redmi 12 5G) to Indonesia. The cheapest 5G Xiaomi phone that we got rn is the Redmi Note 13 5G, which is kinda overpriced imo.
jerem06, 09 Jul 2024IPS screens are generally less bright than AMOLED screens, don't say anythingYeah but manufacturers can't damage them with updates like they do with amoleds(ever heard of green lines stuff) and batteries(battery life mysteriously decreases with each update). Life of ips lcd screens is way better than krappy amoleds. Amoleds are part of planned obsolescence, cannot believe how majority of users have fallen for it.

I just want a phone without that crap oled pwm tech, with a capable and power saving soc, with decent photo module.
Dual physical sims, IR, sd slot are welcome bonus.
Will buy when available in Europe.
"side-mounted fingerprint scanner" Thank you! So much quicker to unlock with these than the under screen ones....
