Sadly Samesung seem to stick with the same sensor for 3rd year in a row. Smallest among all flagships for a $1300 phone. As far as main camera sensors on regular and plus phones, cameras are absolute jokes.

The IMX989 does 99% of the same stuff. So I think basically Omnivision wants to be better than Sony so brands move towards them.

A.) Their best phones have Sony sensors, thus if they process/optimize them well then the rest seem cooler because everyone thinks a company has the same processing for all phones.
B.) They don't know the sensor that well. Sony sensors are quite common and so are Samsung sensors, their first iterations weren't that good in phones just like OV sensors now.
Case in point, Samsung's 108 MP sensor in the S20 Ultra.

People capable of custom build phones can do wonders.
Entire find x7 ultra cam system is far smaller than FF sensor.
Type 1 has almost 130mm2 area. This is just pixel + transistor area. Sensor bezels not included in this math.
FF has over 800mm2.
It is thicker, uses N times more power.
Some costs more than booky foldable phones retail price.

Part is made at Tsmc factory in Taipei, like iphone imx803.
There is no sony sensor made in China.
Sony has r&d center in Beijing. Factories were shut years ago. All hardware priduction is Thailand

Only devices with exmor T are 1v, 5v, 1vi , iphones 15/15+, Find N3/Open.
